Enshrouded 1.0: How to Get Wood Planks

Wood Planks are a core building material in Enshrouded, described in-game as “Planks created by cutting Wood Logs into shape. Very useful for building.” You produce Wood Planks at the Table Saw, which you unlock through the Carpenter.

Quick answer: Build a Table Saw and feed it logs. One Wood Logs becomes 2 Wood Planks in 60 seconds. You first unlock the Table Saw through the Carpenter’s quest that sends you to Thornhold and Fawnsong Frontier.

Unlock the Table Saw through the Carpenter’s quest

You cannot build the Table Saw until you complete the Carpenter quest “Table Saw For The Carpenter”. The quest pushes you out of your base to recover Circular Sawblades, which the recipe needs.

Rescue the Carpenter and start “Table Saw For The Carpenter”. The quest spells out the goal: “A Table Saw requires Circular Sawblades to make, and he thinks those can be found in a town called Thornhold.”

Travel to Thornhold in the Revelwood. The town has fallen to Scavengers and the Sawblades are already gone, so the quest then has you investigate the roads around Thornhold.

Follow the road south to the Scavenger camp Fawnsong Frontier, clear it, and take the Circular Sawblades. The quest explains where they went: “The Scavengers are taking their loot away in wagons. The Circular Sawblades must have been taken to a nearby encampment.”

Craft the Table Saw at the Carpenter

Back at base, open the Carpenter and craft the Table Saw. The recipe calls for 8 Wood Logs, 10 Nails, and 1 Circular Sawblades. The Carpenter has to sit in a sheltered part of your base for the recipe to appear.

If you ever want a second Table Saw, the Blacksmith can make more Circular Sawblades from 2 Iron Bars and 6 Charcoal once you have the Forge.

Make Wood Planks at the Table Saw

Place the Table Saw, put logs into it, and select Wood Planks. Each batch turns 1 log into 2 Wood Planks over 60 seconds, and the finished planks sit in the saw’s output until you collect them.

You are not limited to standard Wood Logs. The Table Saw also accepts these log types:

Cupboards and shelves in houses and camps can hold 2 Wood Planks (and 4 Nails).

What Wood Planks are used for

The Carpenter needs Wood Planks for each chest tier:

Several crafting stations also need planks to build: the Spinning Wheel (2 Planks), Loom (10), Tanning Station (10 Planks, 4 Nails, 10 Lump of Clay, 10 Tar), Alchemy Station (6), Coloring Station (8), and Hand Spindle (4 Planks, 3 Fossilized Bone).

At the Workbench, planks go into building blocks. Ten Planks make 100 Ornate Wood Block, 8 Planks plus 2 Wood Logs make 100 Refined Wood Block, and 3 Planks with 7 Limestone make 100 Fancy Stone Block.

Beyond that, planks are part of the Water Barrel (4 Planks, 2 Copper Bars, 1 Charcoal), water wheels, windmill sails, the Explosive Barrel, and the Polished Wooden furniture line at the Carpenter.
