Enshrouded 1.0 Early Warrior Build: First Skill Points, One-Handed Weapons, Shields and Armor

An early-game warrior build for Enshrouded 1.0: the first 11 skill points in order, plus the one-handed weapons, shields and armor you can get by Flame level 3.

An early-game warrior build for Enshrouded 1.0: the first 11 skill points in order, plus the one-handed weapons, shields and armor you can get by Flame level 3.

For close-quarters combat from the outset, use this Enshrouded 1.0 warrior setup. The Club (6 Wood Logs, 1 Stone) is available to hand craft immediately; after obtaining a Flame Altar, you can hand craft the Wooden Shield (6 Wood Logs, 1 String). The Blacksmith supplies the Scrappy Sword and Spiked Club.

Quick answer: take Constitution into Warrior’s Path, a second Constitution into Heavy Plates, then Power Parry, Merciless Attack and Opportunity, and finish with Purification and Veteran. That is 9 nodes for 11 points.

First skill points for an early warrior

Each level-up gives you 2 skill points, and Shroud Roots and Elixir Wells give more (see how to get skill points). The 12 Spark nodes around the centre of the skill tree cost 0 points, so every route below starts at a Spark. “Early game” here means gear you can make or find up to Flame level 3 (item levels 3 to 12). Skill values are the rank 1 amount, with the per-rank amount in brackets.

The picks follow from what each node does for a melee fighter:

Power Parry skill card on the Enshrouded Skills screen, Locked
Power Parry on our Skills screen before unlocking: its effect, the Parry description and Space Unlock.
  • Strength costs 1 point and adds +5% Melee damage per Attribute Point.
  • Warrior’s Path requires 1 point for each rank; every rank boosts damage with One-Handed Axes, Clubs and Swords by +5%.
  • Beside a Spark, you’ll find Power Parry, which costs 1 point and grants +10% Parry Power per rank.
  • An overpowered enemy takes 500% damage from Merciless Attack (2 points); Opportunity adds 40% to that multiplier with each rank.
  • Each rank of Heavy Plates raises Physical Armor from equipped items by 4%.
  • Purification grants 3 seconds of Time in the Shroud for each rank whenever a melee weapon kills an enemy infested by the Shroud.
  • For 2 points per rank, Veteran gives melee weapons and Daggers an extra 2% Critical Strike chance per rank.

Damage-type nodes should match your weapon. Brute (+10% Melee Blunt damage per rank) suits the clubs, and Slasher (+10% Melee Cutting damage per rank) suits the sword.

This plan takes 11 points for 9 nodes. Each pick uses the cheapest route from a node you already own; the Constitution nodes that route passes through are the “on the way to” rows. Only the first rank of each skill is included.

More Warrior skills to take next

After the first nine nodes, these come next. Shiny Plates adds 4% Magical Armor per rank; Heavy Handed raises Stun Bar fill by 10% per rank against blocking enemies. Finesse gives one-handed hits a 15% chance per rank to restore 1 durability. Vigorous Deflection restores 15 Stamina per rank on a successful parry, and Athlete adds maximum Health equal to 3 times your Strength per rank. Brute suits a club and Slasher the sword. Every Warrior node is in every Warrior skill and what it does.

Rows are arranged by the points needed to reach each node. The total counts the skill node and every node on the least-cost route from a Spark.

Early weapons and shields

The Club is hand crafted from the start, and its card reads: “A club carved out of wood. Not much, but better than nothing.”

The Club and Spiked Club deal Blunt damage, so they pair with Brute. The Scrappy Sword deals Cutting damage, so it pairs with Slasher. All three benefit from Warrior’s Path.

The Wooden Shield is hand crafted once you have a Flame Altar. The Rising Fighter Shield comes from the Blacksmith once you know Charcoal, Metal Scraps and the Forge, and the Valiant and Hero’s Shields from Flame level 3. Once enhanced, the Rising Fighter and Hero’s Shields can each unlock a rank of Power Parry, Opportunity and Bash, and the Valiant Shield can unlock Power Parry +2. Every shield and ward is in the shields and wards list, and the Blacksmith’s full list is in all Blacksmith recipes.

Early armor sets for a warrior build

Five armor sets fit the early game: the Fur, Rising Fighter, Adventurer and Tank sets from the Blacksmith (more in the craftable armor sets by Flame level), and the Warrior set, which has no recipe and comes from chests (with the other chest-only families in the loot armor sets list). For this build, enhancing the Fur Boots, Rising Fighter Boots or Adventurer Boots unlocks Warrior’s Path +2, and the Tank Chestplate can unlock Heavy Plates +2. The Warrior Arms give One-Handed Melee Damage +6%, and the Warrior Helmet Merciless Attack Damage +63%.

Where the build goes next

For a shield-first fighter, the sword and shield parry build goes deeper into parry skills and every Power Parry shield. For two-handed weapons, see the greatsword Warrior build. To build around armor, resistances and drawing enemies, see the tank build.
