Quick answer: Blast the cracked wall near the Mourning Hall bell with the Tiger Cannon, then follow the snowy ravine about 110 m to end The Way Forward. On Mount Soulrend, climb to the Mountain God Temple.
Open the cracked wall near the Mourning Hall bell
The exit out of the Mirage Estate is a cracked boulder wall in the red-lit hall close to the Mourning Hall bell. It opens with the Tiger Cannon.
Walk up to the wall and a Ctrl prompt appears on it. Press Ctrl, and the cannon punches a ragged hole through to a blue-lit ravine on the other side.

Add to Google Preferences →The Way Forward route through the snowy ravine
The route is a single path with no branches. In our run, no enemy was within 40 m of it. The whole run from the bell to the end of the chapter is about 155 m.

You pass walls hung with icicles along the way.

End of chapter and the Blood Heralds the Dawn achievement
A black card announces the chapter’s completion with “THE WAY FORWARD / END OF CHAPTER”. Steam awards the achievement “Blood Heralds the Dawn” at that point; its description is “Pass Through Mirage Estate”.

A wordless cutscene captioned “One Day Before” plays next, cutting between a carriage on a snowy road and a robed figure in a red hall with a huge hanging puppet. It returns to the present with Soul walking a snowy ravine alone as a giant armoured puppet stomps past.
Climb from the cliff ledge to the Mountain God Temple
The temple is about 235 m from where you arrive and about 50 m higher. In our run, no enemy was within 40 m of the climb.

A temple with lit lanterns comes into view up the hill.

Mountain God Temple cutscene (story spoilers)
Soul falls into a memory. At sunset, a desert scene shows his Sha-Chi surging red; next, in a hall lit by candles and stained with blood, he calls for his Shifu.
He regains consciousness with Zuo Shang and Uncle Zhong standing over him. A memory shows Zuo Shang giving him the map Shifu left for Soul, which is said to relate to Soul’s bloodline and to whatever once drove everyone on Soulrend Cliff mad.
Zuo Shang then admits he set the entire affair in motion. Expecting Shifu to kill Soul, he planned to land the final blow himself. He adds that Shifu used the mask to curb his Sha-Chi and fought at only seventy percent.
Zuo Shang: “I’m giving you one last chance – the Eighteenth day of the Fifth Moon, at the old training grounds.” He drops a red blade next to Soul’s hand and leaves. When Uncle Zhong asks why he let Soul go, Zuo Shang says he wants to see which is stronger, Lóng or Mó.
Mountain God Temple bell
When the cutscene ends, Mount Soulrend appears on the map, now marked with the bell at Mountain God Temple. The quest card A SOUL’S WORTH appears with the objective “Reach Soulrend Cliff”.

The bell itself is the crane-and-bell shrine inside the temple, used with the E prompt.

Close the map and you’re standing at it with the menu already open, offering these options:
- Traverse
- Upgrade Equipment
- Store
- Train Abilities
- Save
- Leave

Craftsman’s Tool Kit chest in the temple
Before leaving, grab the chest about 5 m from the bell, standing beside the rows of seated buddha statues. Press E to open it for the Craftsman’s Tool Kit, a Weapon Soul Tempering Material for the Bonesaw.

The item card reads, in full:
“A box of handmade tools left behind by a Mandate craftsman. However awkwardly a weapon is built, however stubborn the grime, these tools will bring it back to new.”
“Alas, neither those who made them nor those who used them will ever return.”
“Used to Soul Temper the Bonesaw.”

What comes next: A Soul’s Worth
In the quest log’s Story tab, THE WAY FORWARD is marked finished, while A SOUL’S WORTH is active and displays the line “The Loong’s roar beneath the abyss”. Its objective marker lies deep in the Mount Soulrend map’s unexplored fog, at a distance from the temple.
