Storage Hunters: Open World (Roblox) — How to Get the Fishing Rod

Reach $10,000 net worth, search containers in the Farmyard, then return to the pond to start fishing.

Reach $10,000 net worth, search containers in the Farmyard, then return to the pond to start fishing.

The Fishing Rod in Storage Hunters: Open World is the single item that unlocks fishing, and it is not handed to you by the angler standing at the pond. Instead, it turns up as loot while you search containers in the Farmyard. That means you have to hit a net worth requirement, drive out to the farm, and dig through storage until the rod drops.

Quick answer: Build your net worth to $10,000, travel to the Farmyard, and search containers there until the Fishing Rod appears. Take it back to the fisherman at the pond to begin catching fish.

Fishing Rod requirements before you start

You need at least $10,000 net worth before any of this is possible. Both the Farmyard area and its Stable Garage auctions are locked behind that figure, so nothing below it will let you in. Your current net worth is shown at the top right of the screen.

DetailValue
RarityEpic
Base sell value$400
LocationFarmyard
Net worth to enter Farmyard$10,000
Stable Garage auction entry fee$15.00

The rod itself is an Epic item worth $400 if you sell it, but its real use is unlocking fishing rather than cash.

Where to find the Fishing Rod in the Farmyard

The angler at the pond will not give you a rod. Speaking to him only returns the line, “Come back to me when you have a fishing rod.” The rod is instead pulled from containers at the farm, alongside character accessories you can also loot while searching.

Grow your net worth to $10,000. Watch the net worth counter at the top right until it clears the threshold, since the farm and its auctions stay locked until then.
Drive to the Farmyard. Follow the beam marker toward the farm, where the top location banner reads “[Farmyard] $10,000 Net Worth Needed.”
Find Ted next to the red “LOST AND FOUND” box and talk to him. He offers the quest “Farmhand – Win 10 Stable Garage auctions,” which points you toward the storage you need to open.
Enter a Stable Garage auction. Park at a Stable Garage spot marked “$15.00 entry [$10,000 Net Worth to enter],” press E to start the auction, and bid to win the locker.
Search the containers you win. Keep opening farm storage until the Fishing Rod drops into your inventory.

How Stable Garage auctions work

Each Stable Garage auction costs a $15.00 entry fee, deducted the moment you start it. The auctioneer opens with a starting bid, then you click BID to raise it. In a typical run the starting bid lands around $2,200.00, and placing a higher bid such as $2,400.00 flips your status to “WINNING” and secures the locker.

Since the rod is a random find, expect to win and search several lockers before it shows up. Ted’s Farmhand quest asks for 10 Stable Garage wins, which gives you plenty of chances to pull the rod along the way.

Start fishing after you get the rod

Once the Fishing Rod is in your inventory, drive back to the pond and the fisherman on the dock. With the rod in hand, he no longer turns you away, and you can cast into the water to begin catching fish.

Fishing is worth the effort if you plan to complete a collection. After the most recent update there are 24 unique fish to catch, and searching farm containers remains the only route to the rod that unlocks all of them.

You will know it worked when the rod appears among your items and the pond fisherman lets you fish instead of repeating his prompt to return with a rod.
