Loot one early Havana chest to double the wildlife products you pull from every animal skinning.

Exotic Sea Shells is a Rare trinket in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced that boosts how many Wildlife Products you collect each time you skin an animal. It sits in a chest in Havana, one of the first places you visit, so you can grab it during your opening hours with Edward Kenway.

Quick answer: Travel to the southeast part of Havana, set a marker on coordinates 213, 568, and open the chest there. No lockpick or special tool is required.

Exotic Sea Shells location and stats

The trinket is tucked inside a treasure chest in southeastern Havana, hidden in an alleyway between two buildings. Havana opens up early in the campaign, so you do not need to progress far before the chest is reachable. It carries no lock, meaning you can loot it the moment you get there.

The scarecrow treasure hunt that leads to the chest

The chest is the payoff of an optional treasure hunt called ‘To All Who Seek Glory,’ and looting it ticks off one of the seven secrets in Havana. If you want to follow the trail rather than fast-travel straight to the coordinates, here is how it plays out.

Head to the market area in Havana and look for a stall flanked by two scarecrows. Interact with the letter on the stall, signed by “The Lord of Pirates,” which tells you to head south and watch for more scarecrows.

Move south down the path. You will pass a scarecrow standing beside a wagon of hay, then reach two more scarecrows near some benches and a fence, where a road branches off to the east.
Take the eastern road until you see two scarecrows next to a door you cannot open. The door stays locked, so parkour up and over it and drop through the open roof into the room below.
Inside, open the large blue chest to receive Exotic Sea Shells. A note titled “Congratulations, young pirate” sits beside it, and you can also collect some Reales from the corner of the room opposite the chest.

What Exotic Sea Shells does

Skinning an animal normally gives you a single item, such as one Ocelot Pelt. With Exotic Sea Shells equipped, the same kill yields extra Wildlife Products, so that Ocelot hands you two pelts instead of one. The effect applies to every creature, which roughly halves the number of rare animals you need to hunt to hit the same crafting totals.

Those Wildlife Products feed straight into Edward’s personal equipment upgrades. Health boosts, ammo pouches, pistol holsters, and dart pouches all draw on animal hides, bones, and pelts, and the animals you need get rarer the deeper you push into the campaign. Grabbing this trinket during your first Havana visit builds a head start that compounds over dozens of hours.

How to equip the trinket

The trinket sits in your inventory until you slot it, and the perk only works while it is equipped. Open the character menu, go to the inventory screen, and place Exotic Sea Shells into Trinket Slot A or Trinket Slot B. You can run two trinkets at the same time, so this one pairs with any other without costing you a slot elsewhere.

You will know it is working the next time you skin an animal and pull more than one product from a single kill. Trinkets are a new system in Resynced that did not exist in the 2013 release, and for a completionist run this one is close to essential.
