As of the 1.0 release, Enshrouded has no mounts. There is no horse and no rideable animal, and the creatures you tame are not mounts either. They are pets and farm animals that stay at your base. To cover distance, you use three tools: the Glider, the Grappling Hook and fast travel between Flame Altars.
Are there mounts in Enshrouded 1.0?
No. Riding is unavailable in the PC 1.0 release: no item, recipe, skill, or quest enables it.
Taming doesn’t change that. Tamed animals become pets or farm animals, and the game’s own description makes their role clear: “Once tame, the animal can be picked up.” They live at your base. They don’t carry you anywhere.

Add to Google Preferences →What Wall Mounts are
If you searched the crafting menus for “mount” and found something, it was a decoration. The Decoration Workbench makes weapon Wall Mounts, described in game as “A display to showcase weapons or shields.” There are seven:
- One-Handed Melee Weapon Wall Mount
- Two-Handed Melee Weapon Wall Mount
- Dagger Wall Mount
- Bow and Arrow Wall Mount
- Wand Wall Mount
- Staff Wall Mount
- Shield Wall Mount
Each one costs 1 Wood Logs + 1 Nails. They hang on a wall and hold your gear. That’s all they do.
Glide: the fastest way across the map
In Enshrouded, the Glider is your primary way to travel over land. Craft its basic version at the Workbench using 8 Shroud Wood, 2 Animal Fur, 2 String and 2 Shroud Spores. The Carpenter makes the upgrades, with every tier improving range and speed.

| Glider | Range | Speed | Stamina per Second | Made at |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Glider | 100% | 10 | 4 | Workbench |
| Advanced Glider | 150% | 15 | 4 | Carpenter |
| Extraordinary Glider | 200% | 20 | 5 | Carpenter |
| Ghost Glider | 250% | 25 | 5 | Carpenter |
Gliding drains Stamina every second you’re in the air, and the two top tiers drain it faster. Watch your bar on long flights.
Grappling Hook: crossing gaps and climbing to anchor points
The Grappling Hook pulls you across gaps and up to anchor points. The item text calls it “A sturdy tool that can help to cross many chasms along the way.” Each pull has a Stamina Cost 40.

Two upgrades come from the Carpenter. The Improved Grappling Hook drops the cost to Stamina Cost 30 and is described as “Requires less stamina. Can be activated at larger ranges.” The Underwater Grappling Hook also costs Stamina Cost 30 and is “A grappling hook that can be used underwater.”
Fast travel with Flame Altars
Fast travel does the job a horse would do in other games. Flame Altars act as fast travel points, and you place them yourself.

Stamina sets the limit on foot
Without a mount, Stamina decides how far you get. Sprinting, climbing, gliding and grappling all spend it. Raising your maximum through skill points and food gives you longer runs, longer glides and more grapples before you have to stop.
