The Glider lets you drop from a high point and cover ground fast, and later versions carry you farther. There are four of them in all, each a step up in rarity and item level. You craft the first one yourself, then unlock better ones as you gather new materials and rescue the Carpenter.
Quick answer: The Glider takes 8 Shroud Wood, 2 Animal Fur, 2 String, and 2 Shroud Spores at a Workbench. The recipe shows up once you own a Workbench and have picked up any of those materials. Crafting it is not enough: equip it from the backpack (right-click it, then Equip), then press Space in the air when the “Start gliding” prompt appears.
Its in-game description reads: “The possibility to fly has always been a desirable trait. Press [Space] whilst in the air to open the Glider. Using the wind currents and the height of the starting point, it can be used to travel great distances in an instant.”
Craft the first Glider at a Workbench
The Blacksmith points you toward this item with the “Glider” quest, which says: “Crafting a Glider will allow you to reach distant locations or to cross enshrouded valleys unharmed. It can be crafted at a Workbench from Shroud Wood. You can aquire Shroud Wood by venturing beneath the Shroud. Be wary of consuming Stamina while using the Glider to reach new locations.”

Check the Glider slot on the CHARACTER tab: the Glider should now show under EQUIPPED. Its card repeats the item text that tells you to press [Space] in the air.

The Glider opens and carries you forward, out over Shroud valleys if you start from a cliff above one. It uses Stamina while it is open, and the prompt below your character changes to Cancel on the right mouse button.

Hitting terrain closes the Glider. Tall rock pillars rise out of the Shroud at glide height, and flying straight into one drops you into the fog, so steer around them. If the Glider closes while you are still in the air, the “Start gliding” prompt comes back: press Space again to reopen it.

Airborne, a Ranger skill, reduces the Stamina your Glider uses. You’ll find it on the Ranger side of the skill tree, and its card reads “Gliders consume 12% less Stamina.” along with “12% cost reduction per level”. The skill has 3 ranks, and each rank costs 1 skill point.

Each Glider sits at a higher rarity and item level than the last. The Advanced and Extraordinary Gliders are crafted by the Carpenter once they have a sheltered bed; the Ghost Glider is found first, then the Carpenter can craft more.
| Glider | Rarity | Item level | Where to craft |
|---|---|---|---|
| Glider | Uncommon | 5 | Workbench |
| Advanced Glider | Rare | 10 | Carpenter |
| Extraordinary Glider | Epic | 20 | Carpenter |
| Ghost Glider | Legendary | 30 | Found, then Carpenter |
Advanced Glider
The Advanced Glider takes 6 Shroud Wood, 4 Linen, 4 String, and 8 Shroud Sack, crafted at the Carpenter. Its description reads: “This Glider is lighter and enables you to travel bigger distances.”

Extraordinary Glider
At the Carpenter, make the Extraordinary Glider with 4 Shroud Wood, 2 Leather, 2 Linen, and 15 Shroud Adhesive. Collect Leather to unlock its recipe, then craft it there. Its description reads: “This Glider will allow you to travel extraordinarily long distances.”

Ghost Glider
The Ghost Glider is found rather than crafted the first time. Once you have it, the Carpenter can make more from 3 Shroud Wood, 2 Fabric, 4 Enshrouded Oil, 1 Sulfur, and 1 String. Its description reads: “A formidable Glider which can cross even the deepest trenches, allowing you to rain death from above.”

Because Enshrouded 1.0 has no mounts, with no horse or rideable animal to call on, the glider remains your main way to cover long distances.
