In Final Fantasy Resonance, all 12 Ancient pieces have a known source. Three are in treasure chests, two are Tablet Shard collector rewards, two are Colosseum Rank Battle rewards, two are Mysidia Radar hidden treasures, two are sold by the Merchant Ship, and the Ancient Bow is a gift from Chloe.
Quick answer: Open the chests in the Crystal Tower (Katana), Abandoned Cabin (Rod) and Quarry Cave (Accessory). Hand in 76 and 84 Tablet Shards for the Firearm and Whip. Win Fledgling Battle 3 (Greatsword) and Brawler Battle 5 (Cuirass) in the Colosseum. Find the Hammer and Garment with the Mysidia Radar. Buy the Cloak (from Chapter 6) and Tome (from Chapter 7) from the Merchant Ship, and do Chloe’s ancient bow side event for the Bow.

What Ancient equipment is
Final Fantasy Resonance includes a dozen pieces bearing the Ancient name. They are the Ancient Accessory, the Ancient Bow, and the Ancient Cloak; the Ancient Cuirass, Ancient Firearm, and Ancient Garment; plus the Ancient Greatsword, Ancient Hammer, Ancient Katana, Ancient Rod, Ancient Tome, and Ancient Whip. Each has a stat value of 1. The game describes every one the same way: it “has forgotten its strength and lost its once magnificent gleam”, and you are told to take up the trial of that equipment type to restore it.
Most of them sell for 50 Gil. A few are exceptions, and two are only sold by the Merchant Ship. The Ancient Accessory sells for 20 Gil, and the Ancient Bow and Ancient Cuirass each go for 250. The Ancient Cloak sells for 10,000 Gil and the Ancient Tome for 11,250. You can compare them against the rest of the game’s gear in the full weapons list.
Ancient Katana, Rod and Accessory: treasure chests
Three pieces sit in ordinary treasure chests. Go to the location and open the chest there.
- Ancient Katana: chest in the Crystal Tower. The game’s hint: “Though it lies in a place not readily reached, you will surely come upon it on your journey, should fate allow.”
- Ancient Rod: chest in the Abandoned Cabin. The game’s hint: “It lies in a long, thin land to the southwest.”
- Ancient Accessory: chest in the Quarry Cave. The game’s hint: “It may be found in a cave on an isle surrounded by rocks.”

Ancient Firearm and Ancient Whip: Tablet Shard collector
The Tablet Shard collector at the Oblivion Palace hands out a reward at each shard total. The Ancient Firearm unlocks at 76 Tablet Shards and the Ancient Whip at 84. Ancient Greatsword and Ancient Cuirass: Colosseum Rank Battles
Two pieces are first-time rewards from Colosseum Rank Battles in Grandshelt, the Royal Capital. The game’s hint for both: “It will surely come along with the glory of victory in a place where the strong test their might.”

Ancient Hammer and Ancient Garment: Mysidia Radar hidden treasures
The Ancient Hammer and the Ancient Garment are two of the 13 hidden treasures the upgraded Mysidia Radar can find from the airship. The game’s hint for both: “Hidden by an invisibility spell, many have failed to claim it. Ancient Tome and Ancient Cloak: the Merchant Ship
The Merchant Ship sails the seas and trades only with airships. It sells the Ancient Cloak for 40,000 Gil from Chapter 6 and the Ancient Tome for 45,000 Gil from Chapter 7.
