Finish the Farmer quest A Beehive Smoker, build the Honey Beehive, then turn 1 Sugar into 5 Honey every 2 minutes 30 seconds.

Honey is a steady-supply crafting material in Enshrouded, and the reliable way to get it is to build your own hive at base. Once the Honey Beehive stands in your settlement, it converts Sugar into Honey on a timer. Its item text reads “The following sugar rush recharges stamina!”

Quick answer: Complete the Farmer’s quest “A Beehive Smoker”, set the Beehive Smoker at your base, then place the Honey Beehive you craft there and add Sugar. Processing 1 Sugar yields 5 Honey after 2 minutes 30 seconds.

Unlock the Honey Beehive through the Farmer

The hive is gated behind the Farmer, Emily Fray. You have to rescue her first so her recipes and quests open up, then clear the quest that hands over the tool the hive needs.

Rescue the Farmer, Emily Fray. Her workbench and her quest line both stay locked until she is settled at your base.
Accept her quest “A Beehive Smoker”. A Beehive Smoker she ordered for her tavern in Brittlebush failed to arrive. Search the tavern, trace the trade route starting at East Lapis, then travel to Vukah Sacrifice Hill. The Vukah took the smoker, along with honey and wax; defeat the Vukah Honey Thief to get it back. The recommended level for this last step is 20.

Place the Beehive Smoker in your base. The quest describes it plainly: setting the smoker down is what unlocks the Honey Beehive for a regular supply of honey. Until it is placed, the hive recipe will not appear at the Farmer.

Craft and place the Honey Beehive

With the smoker down, open the Farmer’s crafting menu and build the hive. The Honey Beehive costs the following:

Place the finished hive anywhere in your base. The hive produces both Honey and Wax, so its menu has two outputs to choose from once you interact with it.

Make Sugar to feed the hive

The hive runs on Sugar, which you cook from Sugar Cane. If you do not already have a Cooking Station, build one at the Farmer using 4 Flintstone, 1 Kettle, 10 Revelwood Stone, and 2 Metal Scraps.

At the Cooking Station, turn 10 Sugar Cane into 5 Sugar over 1 minute 30 seconds. The Sugar recipe appears once you have picked up Sugar Cane for the first time.

Where to get Sugar Cane

Sugar Cane grows wild across the Nomad Highlands, which holds nearly all of it. A few plants also grow in the Springlands, Albaneve Summits, Kindlewastes, and Cinder’s Cradle, and planted patches appear in the Veilwater Basin.

To grow Sugar Cane, have the Farmer make a Seedbed with 10 Wood Logs, 2 Metal Scraps, and 10 Farm Soil. Each batch consumes 1 Sugar Cane and 1 Farm Soil to yield 5 Sugar Cane Seedlings. Plant a seedling and it will develop into a plant that yields a single harvest.

Produce Honey at the Beehive

Open the Honey Beehive, select Honey as the output, and load Sugar as the input. Each batch converts 1 Sugar into 5 Honey over 2 minutes 30 seconds. Collect the finished Honey from the output slot.

Eaten by itself, Honey is a stamina food, and a slot holds up to 20.

Early Honey from wild hives

Before the station is up, you can gather a few pieces from wild beehives hanging in trees. Harvesting a hive, or chopping the tree it sits on, drops both Wax and Honey.

Health potions that use Honey
