Deserted Island in Dress To Impress asks you to look like someone stuck on an island. There are two clear ways to read it. You can be stranded, in worn, washed-out tans and browns under a big straw hat. Or you can be on holiday, in bright sea turquoise and pink. Both looks below share the same sun hat and the same long curls, so you can build the first and turn it into the second in a few clicks. Neither one needs VIP, stars or Robux.
Quick answer: Wear the wide straw sun hat in both looks. Go castaway with the boho dress recoloured in faded tans and browns (Matte, Denim, Leather), or beach holiday with a turquoise and pink party dress and pale blonde curls.
How to recolour and wear pieces in Dress To Impress
The game never shows item names. Pieces can be selected on a mannequin or bust, and the colour panel shows part labels like “1/6: Dress”. That is why every piece below is described by where it sits in the Dressing Room. Every look follows the same routine.
If you want to recolour something you already have on, open the Wearing panel with the round hat button on the right side of the screen and click the piece’s picture.
Tiles with a star badge are star-locked. One stray click on a locked tile opened a Robux purchase window for us. If that happens, close it with its X.
Reading palette positions
Colours below are given as a column and a row in the default palette. Columns run across by hue. Rows run from earthy tans in row 1 at the top down to row 8, which goes from white to black.
| Column | Hue |
|---|---|
| 1 | Red |
| 2 | Pink |
| 3 | Purple |
| 4 | Blue |
| 5 | Cyan |
| 6 | Green |
| 7 | Lime |
| 8 | Yellow |
| 9 | Orange/brown |

Add to Google Preferences →Deserted Island look 1: Castaway in sun-bleached tans
For the stranded look, dress in a loose tan frock with cream lace edging the hem and a little cream neck ribbon. Add long brown curls and a broad sun hat made of pale straw. The dress and hat are on a single mannequin beside the tops shelf, which wears the boho set, the wide sun hat and fringed brown knee boots.
Your character begins with a black top and shorts built into the base body. Since they aren’t separate clothing items, removing them isn’t possible; you can only hide them. Both dresses in this guide cover them fully.
Before this build our character had on only the base body plus the curls and footwear from an earlier look.

| Part | Colour | Palette | Material |
|---|---|---|---|
| “1/6: Dress” | Tan | Column 3, row 1 | Matte |
| “2/6: Dress Stitching” | Brown | Column 4, row 1 | Matte |
| “3/6: Ribbon” | Cream | Column 9, row 2 | Matte |
| “4/6: Dress Lace” | Brown | Column 4, row 1 | Denim |
| “5/6: Vest” | Dark brown | Column 9, row 7 | Leather |
| “6/6: Vest Lace” | Tan | Column 3, row 1 | Matte |
“1/6: Dress” is the main body of the dress: tan with Matte.

“2/6: Dress Stitching” goes brown, also Matte.

“3/6: Ribbon” is the little bow at the neck, in cream.
“4/6: Dress Lace” is brown with Denim, which gives the lace a rougher, worn finish.

“5/6: Vest” is dark brown with Leather.

“6/6: Vest Lace” finishes the dress in tan with Matte.

| Part | Colour | Material |
|---|---|---|
| “1/3: Hat” | Tan (column 3, row 1) | Matte |
| “2/3: Ribbon” | Brown (column 4, row 1) | Leather |
| “3/3: Lace” | Cream (column 9, row 2) | Matte |
“1/3: Hat” is the straw crown and brim: tan with Matte.

“2/3: Ribbon” is the band around the crown, in brown Leather.

“3/3: Lace” edges the brim in cream, then press “Put On”.

The finished castaway look: a loose tan dress with a cream lace hem and a small cream ribbon at the neck, long brown curls and the wide pale straw sun hat.

From behind, the curls fall down your back under the brim and the lace hem shows at the bottom.

The fringed knee boots, which read golden brown on screen, show below the dress. We posed this look with Satin from the Solo list.

Deserted Island look 2: Tropical beach party dress
This is the holiday version. It is a turquoise dress with a pink bodice and pink ruffled trim, pale blonde curls and the same straw sun hat. It starts from the finished castaway look, so build that one first. The pink parts are the colour at column 1, row 3, which shows pink on the character.

Then set “2/2: Preview” to column 1, row 3 with Light Silk; on the character it shows as pink.

Closing the panel kept the dress on for us, and you can confirm it’s worn because it shows up in the Wearing panel.

Then set “2/4: Preview” to cream (column 9, row 2). That gives you pale blonde curls; the crown still did not show under the hat.

The finished beach look from the front: a turquoise dress with a pink bodice and pink ruffled trim, pale blonde curls and the straw sun hat.

From the back, the pale curls hang over the turquoise skirt under the hat brim.

The fringed knee boots stay on and show below the shorter dress, as the pose picture above shows.
The pictures in the Wearing panel always show each piece’s original colours, not your recolour. A pink dress thumbnail doesn’t mean your turquoise didn’t save.
Why these looks read as Deserted Island
The wide straw sun hat says sun and sand in both looks, so keep it whichever way you go. For the castaway, everything is faded and earthy: tans and browns, a lace hem, and flat Matte, Denim and Leather finishes that look worn rather than new. For the beach version, swap to bright sea turquoise with pink ruffles and pale blonde curls, which reads as a holiday instead of a shipwreck.
Deserted Island pieces to look for
None of these pieces has a name in the game, so look for them by place and shape. All of them are free in Freeplay Mode, and all of them worked on our account with no VIP and 0 stars.

Poses for Deserted Island
The Poses button on the right side opens the “Poses” panel. We used two poses from its Solo tab: Satin for the castaway look and Pearly (fourth in the Solo list) for the beach look, which puts one hand up at the hat brim. Neither showed a price or a lock.
Building it in Freeplay Mode first
Freeplay Mode has no timer, so it is the place to build a look, try colours and materials, and check them on the Freeplay Runway before you need them in a round. Once a look works, you know which mannequin, which palette spots and which materials to go to when Deserted Island comes up for real. For more themes built the same way, see our Boho, Robot Takeover, Album Cover, Potion Maker, Monochrome Mood, Divine Beings, Drag, Sweet 16, Camouflage and Summer Cruise outfit ideas.
How a theme round works
Both looks can be practised in Freeplay Mode. In a normal server, you have to wait for the theme to come up. We watched ordinary rounds on other themes (Plaid Fashion, Birds of Paradise and Patterned tights); Deserted Island did not come up. The current theme appears in a banner at the top of the main lobby, such as “Theme: Plaid Fashion”, with a timer underneath (04:33 left when we saw it). The icon at the top centre opens a hint card for that theme.
Once dressing time ends, each player walks the runway in turn. Everyone else votes using five stars along the bottom of the screen, and a “Voting complete!” banner appears between players. A “Results” card then ranks the players with the stars and other rewards each one earned. After that comes an “Intermission” countdown with a “Pick Theme” button next to the timer.
That button won’t get you Deserted Island for free. The “Pick Theme” panel reads “You have: 0 Theme Props” and explains “Use Theme props to choose the theme & runway!” It has a “Buy More” button showing 75 Robux (we did not buy, so we did not see how many props that gets). Theme Props cost Robux, so the no-spend route is to wait for Deserted Island to roll. When it does, rebuild either look the same way, then pose with Satin for the castaway or Pearly for the beach party. We did not dress for the rounds we watched, so we earned no stars.
What we have not checked
We did not look for sandals, flip-flops, a swimsuit, a flower crown or shell accessories, and we did not try a messy or wet hairstyle. We built two looks, not three. Deserted Island did not come up in the rounds we watched, so these looks have not been through a real vote and we cannot tell you how many stars they earn.
FAQ
What does Deserted Island mean in Dress To Impress?
Dress as someone on an island. You can play it stranded, in worn and faded tans and browns with a big straw sun hat, or as a beach holiday in bright sea turquoise and pink. Both of our looks keep the sun hat.
Can I do Deserted Island without VIP?
Yes. Both looks were built on an account with no VIP and 0 stars, and every piece, colour, material and pose used here worked on it. Nothing was bought.
Is there a swimsuit or sandals for Deserted Island?
We did not look for either, so we cannot say. Both of our looks use the fringed knee boots instead.
Can I change the colour of something I am already wearing?
Yes. Open the “Wearing” panel and click the piece’s picture; its colour panel opens again. We turned the brown curls pale blonde this way for the beach look.
Can I pick the Deserted Island theme myself?
Only with Theme Props, which are bought with Robux through the “Pick Theme” button during Intermission. Without them, wait for Deserted Island to come up in an ordinary round.
