Soul on a rocky forest trail in Phantom Blade Zero

Quick answer: Infernal Rouge is the Soul Tempered form of Sanguine, Soul’s own sword. Win the fifth Lóng Pillar trial for the Bastion of Mó Mask, then bring Sanguine, the mask and 5,000 Remnant Dust to Myst in Pangzhen.

How to get Infernal Rouge

You need three things for the upgrade: Sanguine, the Bastion of Mó Mask and 5,000 Remnant Dust. The mask comes from the quest Bloodline Awakening. Sanguine is the sword Soul already carries.

Keep Sanguine in your inventory. Its card line reads “Soul’s weapon, combining the form of a sword with the weight and force of a heavy blade.” This is the weapon that becomes Infernal Rouge.
Win all five Lóng Pillar trials for the quest Bloodline Awakening. Every pillar is marked in the Lóng Pillar locations list. Trials 1 to 4 are duels with The Gold-Masked One, and trial 5 is a fight against Mó Yuan, Leader of the Bastion of Mó.
Collect the Bastion of Mó Mask, which you receive for winning the fifth trial. Its card confirms what it is for: “Used to Soul Temper Sanguine.”
Find Myst in Pangzhen at the Order’s underground tavern. Speak to Myst, then select “Soul Temper”.
Select Sanguine, then press P to switch to Soul Tempering. The upgrade line reads “Soul Tempers into Infernal Rouge, the heirloom weapon of the Bastion of Mó.”
Pay 5,000 Remnant Dust and 1 Bastion of Mó Mask to confirm. The full menu flow is covered in how to Soul Temper. Once the cost is paid, Sanguine becomes Infernal Rouge.

Infernal Rouge item card

Infernal Rouge is a One-Handed weapon. Its card carries this description:

“A legendary weapon of the Bastion of Mó, concealing secrets tied to Soul’s origins. It can trigger Bloodline Rebirth and Bloodline Awakening.”

Its card line reads “Soul Tempered from Sanguine, Infernal Rouge is the legendary heirloom of the Bastion of Mó.” The mask used to make it has its own card text: “A golden mask crafted over generations by the people of the Bastion of Mó to suppress the surging Sha-Chi in their bloodline.”

Infernal Rouge arts

Infernal Rouge has three arts. Two of them spend Sha-Chi Essence through Power Surge, and one triggers on its own when you take fatal damage.

ArtInputEffect
Bloodline AwakeningPower Surge skill“Power Surge Consumes 1 Sha-Chi Essence to awaken the power of the Bastion of Mó bloodline and transform into “Phantom Soul” for 10 seconds. While active, Attack and Defense are greatly increased, and all attacks unleash blade waves.”
Bloodline RebirthTriggers on fatal damage“Upon taking fatal damage, enter Bloodline Rebirth, fully restoring HP and increasing Attack. While active, HP continuously drains and cannot be actively restored. Bloodline Rebirth ends once 50% of Max HP has been lost to this effect. This effect cannot trigger again until after touching a Bell or respawning. If other revival effects are available at the same time, Bloodline Rebirth triggers first.”
Phantom BladePower Surge during Bloodline Awakening“During Bloodline Awakening, press Power Surge to consume 1 Sha-Chi Essence and unleash a storm of interwoven blade waves. Using this skill ends Bloodline Awakening. This attack is unblockable.”

Is Infernal Rouge worth it

Bloodline Awakening turns Soul into Phantom Soul for 10 seconds. During that window, Attack and Defense rise sharply and every attack sends out blade waves. Pressing Power Surge again spends another Sha-Chi Essence on Phantom Blade, an unblockable storm of blade waves that ends the transformation.

Bloodline Rebirth works as a revive that triggers once per Bell rest or respawn. It restores your HP in full and raises Attack, then drains HP until half of your Max HP is gone. It also fires before any other revival effect you have active.

Infernal Rouge is one of several Soul Tempered weapons. Each material and the weapon it upgrades appears in all Soul Tempering materials, and every blade in the game is in the weapons list.
