Ice and Enshrouded Ice sound like the same thing, but they are two separate materials gathered in two different ways. Both come from the Albaneve Summits, and both feed into weapons, armor and the Flame Altar once you are deep enough into Enshrouded.

Quick answer: Mine Ice with a pickaxe from the frozen rivers and ice sheets of the Albaneve Summits. Gather Enshrouded Ice by felling the large Shroud mushroom trees inside that biome’s Shroud and looting what they leave.

Ice and Enshrouded Ice are two separate materials

Ice is mined: you collect it by striking frozen water with a pickaxe, and it stacks up to 1000. In the inventory it reads, “Crystalline, ice-cold, and slippery.”

Enshrouded Ice is a level 33 Common material pulled from inside the Shroud. Its description reads, “Frozen, enshrouded liquid that’s cold to the touch. Commonly found in the Shroud of the Albaneve Summits biome. It’s unusable by itself, but can be processed into different materials in crafting.”

How to mine Ice in the Albaneve Summits

Use fast travel to reach the Albaneve Summits Ancient Spire. A frozen river runs below it.

Glide down from the spire to the frozen river below. The river and its banks are where the Ice sits.
Equip a pickaxe and strike the ice on the river. Each swing adds Ice, and a pickup notification appears on the left of the screen to confirm it landed in your inventory.

Keep mining the ice sheets along the riverbank until you have the amount you need. You want 30 Ice for the Flame Altar, or 25 for an Eternal Frost Arrow.

How to get Enshrouded Ice from the Shroud

Enter the Shroud within the Albaneve Summits. The Shroud timer begins counting down the moment you step inside, so keep an eye on it.
Find a large Shroud mushroom tree in the area and fell it using an axe.
Loot the glowing remains the tree leaves behind to collect the Enshrouded Ice. Move on to the next tree and gather more the same way.
