Enshrouded 1.0: How to Get the Blast Furnace

Claim the Bellows from the Forge of Obsidia, then craft the furnace at the Blacksmith to smelt Steel, Silver, Gold, and Celestium.

Claim the Bellows from the Forge of Obsidia, then craft the furnace at the Blacksmith to smelt Steel, Silver, Gold, and Celestium.

The Blast Furnace is the station that smelts the higher-end metals in Enshrouded, and it only becomes available after you complete a Blacksmith quest and recover a Bellows from a hostile forge. Its item text reads: “This advanced furnace can create incredible heat! It’s used to smelt higher quality materials.” Once it sits in your base, it handles the bars that the Smelter cannot.

Quick answer: Accept the Blacksmith’s quest, retrieve the Bellows from the Forge of Obsidia’s heart in the Albaneve Summits, and make the Blast Furnace at the Blacksmith in a sheltered location.

Start the Blacksmith’s quest “A Blast Furnace For The Blacksmith”

The recipe is locked until you take and work through the Blacksmith’s quest. It opens with a task called Find The Forge, which spells out where you are headed:

“The Blacksmith is curious about the Albaneve Summits region. The North once expanded there to build more Elixir Well and crafted weapons from the local materials to protect them. These materials can only be smelted with the heat produced by a proper forge. Find the forge and claim its heat source! This will enable you to craft a blast furnace.”

Get the Bellows from the Forge of Obsidia

Make your way to the Forge of Obsidia, located in the Albaneve Summits. Arriving there moves the quest on to its combat objective.

Fight your way toward the heart of the forge. The quest describes it as: “You’ve reached the forge, but it’s teeming with Scavengers defending their equipment. Reach the heart of the forge and defeat the enemies there!”
Clear the enemies at the heart of the forge, including the Scavenger Tyrant.

Take the Bellows. The quest updates to Craft A Blast Furnace With The Bellows, and the Blast Furnace recipe unlocks at the Blacksmith. Its text reads: “You’ve retrieved some bellows from inside the forge! They can be used to craft a blast furnace. Return to your base and craft a blast furnace with the bellows to proceed!”

Craft the Blast Furnace at the Blacksmith

With the Bellows in hand, gather the rest of the materials and build the furnace at the Blacksmith in a sheltered spot. The recipe takes 20 Fired Bricks, 1 Bellows, 10 Lump of Clay, 10 Iron Bars, and 30 Sand. Fine Sand, Veilwater Basin Sand, or Cinder’s Cradle Sand also count as the sand.

Craft the Blast Furnace, then place it in your base.

After you have placed one Blast Furnace, the Blacksmith can craft more Bellows. The Bellows takes 10 Conifer Logs, 10 Leather, 5 Linen, and 1 Iron Bars, in a sheltered spot.

What the Blast Furnace makes
