The Catacombs of Paris are one of the densest areas in Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse. They hold relics, weapons, heart fragments, two bosses and a sealed door that pulls in keepsakes from elsewhere on the map. The checklist below runs through each district in the order you reach them, with every pickup as of launch (version 1.0).
Quick answer: The Catacombs hold 20 XP statues, 5 Relics, 3 Weapons, 3 Hearts (HP), 3 Hearts (mana), 3 Whole meat, 2 Mirrors of Life, 2 Arcana cards, 2 Spells, 2 Keepsakes, 2 Clues, 2 Bosses, 1 Ferryman’s Wharf, 1 Sealed door and 1 Mammon’s altar.
Catacombs of Paris route, abilities and Mirrors of Life
Reach the Catacombs of Paris via the Paris Streets entrance called the Gate to the Catacombs; it becomes accessible after you place all three keys. For the complete process, see the instructions for opening the Gate to the Catacombs.
Use Arcane Whip and Holy Light for the opening route: travel from the Catacomb Entrance through the Realm of Old Night, then face Death for the first time at the Altar of Bones. For the fight, consult the guide to defeating Death in the Catacombs and Transept. The Necro Charm in the Jaws of Limbo is available on your first visit, since it requires no additional ability.
Two chests can only be opened after you obtain Smash at the Clock Tower. The Forsaken Ring is in the Antechamber of Sin, while Gungnir is along the Collapsed Path of Orpheus. See this guide to using Smash on yellow blocks for help with the ability.
Mammon’s door in the Circle of Greed needs three eyes:
- Oozing Eye, in the Circle of Greed
- Thrilling Eye, in the Hospital in Paris Streets
- Trembling Eye, in the Pillaged Tombs in Holy Innocents’ Cemetery
Beating Mammon gives you The Miser, Wheel of Chaos and the Ferryman’s Obol. The steps are in the guide on opening the Circle of Greed eye door and beating Mammon. Catacomb Entrance
The Specter’s Whisper relic sits in a chest in a secret area behind a hidden passage by the Gate to the Catacombs. A Brave Heart Fragment is near the gate as well. The nearest Mirror of Life is in the Quarry Elevator.
