Final Fantasy Resonance gives your party a lot of steel, plus some magic, to choose from. Weapons fall into eight types, and each type has its own strongest option and its own cheapest entry point at a shop. Which types matter to you depends on your party. Rain, Lasswell and Fina each use a different weapon type, so you will be shopping in three lists from the start. Details on who uses what are on the playable characters page.

Quick answer: The game offers 242 weapons across eight categories: guns, grimoires, greatswords, rods, bows, whips, katanas, and hammers. Greatswords are Rain’s weapon, katanas belong to Lasswell, and Fina uses bows.

Weapons you can buy in the Royal Capital, Mitra and Felicitas

Most early upgrades come from three places: the Town of Mitra, the Town of Felicitas and the Capital Market in the Royal Capital. Several of these weapons also turn up in other towns’ shops, which are listed alongside each one.

Felicitas is where the first real upgrades for Rain and Fina show up. The shop comparison puts the Longsword at +11 Phys. Atk and +6 Mag. Atk over Rain’s starting Crimson Saber. The Shortbow brings Sanctity 27 for Fina, and that matters because her Shining Arrow reads “Power scales with sanctity.” Full stock for each counter is on the Felicitas shops page, and the route there is in the walkthrough.

How weapon stats work

Every weapon carries two core numbers. Phys. Atk raises the damage of physical attacks, and Mag. Atk raises the damage of magic. Beyond those, some weapons carry extras:

  • Sanctity, on some bows
  • Phys. Def, Speed or HP bonuses
  • A special effect written into the weapon’s description

Special effects vary a lot. Apocalypse reads “Grants Protect for 3 turns upon staggering an enemy.” Blood Sword reads “Increases HP by 550. Restores 10% of max HP upon defeating an enemy.” Arcana Blade reads “Increases damage dealt by magic attacks by 10%.” A breakdown of what each stat does is in stats explained.

Selling weapons

Every shop has a Sell tab, so you can offload weapons you’ve outgrown anywhere you can buy. Older gear returns only a fraction of its price. The Longsword sells for 160 Gil, the Shortbow for 150 Gil and the Dodanuki for 170 Gil.
