The Catacombs of Paris is an area of the City of Paris and has more breakable walls than any other area. How secret areas open in Catacombs of Paris
The game’s tutorial card for Secret Areas reads: “Some secret areas are hidden behind walls. Look out for the visual and audio clues.” Secret Areas open in four ways.
- Hidden passage: Rose can walk straight through a wall that only appears solid.
- Breakable wall: strike the cracked wall with your weapon to bring it down.
- Lever gate: pull a lever to open the gate blocking the secret.
- Smash floor: use Smash to break through the floor; thicker floors require a higher drop first.
The Stomp tutorial reads: “The Stomp has several power levels that activate depending on the distance travelled during the fall. If Rose jumps high enough, she can break thicker destructible objects!” The relic Gloomstone, found in the Master’s Quarters, “Gives a hint when Rose is close to a secret.” You can read more in the relics guide.
When a secret is out of reach, drop a marker. The map tutorial reads: “Placing a MARKER on a secret or an unreachable location allows you to return to it later.” The marker button is Square on PlayStation and Space on PC.
A few whip strikes will shatter a golden XP statue; each statue in the Catacombs of Paris awards 200 XP. Picking up whole meat replenishes all of Rose’s lost health.
