DMZ in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 splits its Hajin bosses into two tiers. Lieutenants are named mini-bosses who hold a point of interest. Commanders are heavier bosses who roam the map. Each Lieutenant you kill leaves a legendary dog tag and a signature weapon, and the Boss Board back at the Forward Operating Base (F.O.B.) tracks which ones you have hunted.
Quick answer: The Scavenger spawns in an Injin Farmland warehouse and Bale spawns in the Tank Depot bunker. Each drops a LEGENDARY dog tag named after them, and Bale also drops the DREADNOUGHT LMG.
DMZ boss tiers in Hajin: Lieutenants vs. Commanders
The two tiers play very differently. Lieutenants are named enemy officers, and each one carries a personal loadout. Commanders are world bosses built to absorb far more punishment than regular enemies, and a coordinated squad stands a much better chance against them than a solo operator.
| Tier | Names on the board | Behavior |
|---|---|---|
| Lieutenants | Lieutenants include JIN-TAE, THE DOCTOR, BALE, ISKRA, plus SCAVENGER. | Hold a point of interest |
| Commanders | Colossus and Deathstalker, along with Main NK Battle Tank, are the commanders. | Roam the map |
Treat neither list as a final roster. The Lieutenant row on the Boss Board scrolls sideways, with an arrow on the left edge, so more cards can sit beyond the five in view.

Three Lieutenant spawns have known drops. The point-of-interest names below match what the game shows on screen.
| Lieutenant | Spawn | Drops |
|---|---|---|
| The Scavenger | Warehouse, Injin Farmland | LEGENDARY dog tag |
| Bale | Bunker, Tank Depot | LEGENDARY dog tag, DREADNOUGHT LMG |
| Unnamed Lieutenant | DBN Headquarters | LEGENDARY dog tag, THE KRAKEN sniper rifle |
Killing a Lieutenant triggers a “SIDE OP COMPLETE” banner. The dog tag lands on the floor next to the body, and you grab it with the BACKPACK prompt.
The Scavenger at Injin Farmland
The Scavenger holes up inside a warehouse at Injin Farmland and fights back with a rifle. His side op reads “KILL THE SCAVENGER”. Pushing into the building and shooting from cover inside works well here. Once he goes down, look for the LEGENDARY “scavenger’s dog tag” on the floor.

Bale at Tank Depot
At Tank Depot, Bale is stationed in the bunker amid dense yellow-green smoke, carrying a Dreadnought LMG. Send a squad inside and take him down at close range with assault rifles. If you purchased his intel, your objective list labels the hunt “Paid Intel: Kill Bale”. He drops the LEGENDARY “bale’s dog tag” and his LMG.

The DREADNOUGHT comes fully kitted out when it drops:
- SA Sentinel 38.4″ Barrel
- SZ Helios Holo Optic
- Assault-LS Grip (rear grip)
- ST V.1 Woodgrain Stock
- 100 Round Box Mag
The Lieutenant at DBN Headquarters
A Lieutenant also spawns at DBN Headquarters, close to a Lieutenant Hunt tower. This boss drops a LEGENDARY dog tag and THE KRAKEN, a signature sniper rifle.

Jin-Tae, The Doctor and Iskra appear on the Boss Board with “Found in: HAJIN”, the same as the other Lieutenants.
How to track down a Lieutenant
There are two ways to find a Lieutenant. You can work a Lieutenant Hunt tower during the match, or buy intel on the Boss Board at the F.O.B.
Lieutenant Hunt tower
Paid intel from the Boss Board
Each Lieutenant card has an INTEL button, and it stays locked at first. Bale’s card, when selected, explains the unlock condition: “Complete the Underground, Counterfeit, and Human Intel Chapters to Access Intel”. Those three chapters are part of DMZ Orders. Finish them, and you can buy intel from the card. The hunt then appears in your in-match objective list as a paid side op, such as “Paid Intel: Kill Bale”.
Boss Board at the F.O.B.: Cards and dog tag challenges
The Forward Operating Base has a Boss Board with two tabs: LIEUTENANTS and COMMANDERS. Every Lieutenant card lists the same details: “Found in: HAJIN”, “REWARD 10,000”, and an INTEL button that is locked initially.

Below the cards are three challenges, and a REWARD is listed beside them:
- KILL CHALLENGE: “Kill All Hajin Lieutenants Once.”
- DOG TAG CHALLENGE: The requirement is “Extract Dog Tags From All Hajin Lieutenants 2 Times.”
- DOG TAG CHALLENGE 2: The requirement is “Extract Dog Tags From All Hajin Lieutenants 5 Times.”
The dog tag challenges count extracted tags. A Lieutenant’s tag only counts toward the board if you make it out of the match with it, so dying before exfil means that tag does not count.
