Brauner is the boss tied to The Artist, card 6 of the Tarot. You fight him in Brauner's Atelier, inside the Main Hall, and the closest Mirror of Life is in Elevator Tower.
Beating Brauner earns The Artist and its spell, Masterpiece, which costs 60 MP. It calls up a stone gargoyle that hovers beside Rose and fires at enemies close to her. Cast it again while the gargoyle survives and it drops straight onto a close enemy and blows up for extra damage. With The Artist in hand, go to Observation Tower in the Library, near the Rhetoric Shelves Mirror of Life, to pick up Aerial Rush.
Masterpiece has 3 Works of Mercy, each paying a Blessing toward a Gift: kill 30 enemies with the Gargoyle Dive, knock 5 enemies to their deaths with the Gargoyle Summoning Stone, and uncover the Main Hall's secret zones. The Gifts add an extra gargoyle, heal Rose whenever a gargoyle fireball strikes an enemy, and keep the gargoyle intact when its dive kills at least one enemy. Clues to The Artist turn up in the Gallery of Eternal Night, the Old Gallery, Elevator Tower and Brauner's Atelier.
