Shroud Roots grow at the bottom of Elixir Wells, the places across Embervale where the Shroud rises. Make your way down to the root and fell it with a felling axe, and each Flameborn close by earns skill points. A root only pays out once per player: when it grows back, anyone who has already felled it gains no further skill points from it. The wells sit deep inside the Shroud and are hard going, so head down in solid protective gear, and eat and recover at your base first. The map of Embervale shows 56 Shroud Root spots.
Springlands and Cinder's Cradle have the most, with 9 each, followed by the Albaneve Summits with 8. Revelwood, the Nomad Highlands and the Kindlewastes hold 7 apiece, Veilwater Basin has 6 and Blackmire has 3. Because a root rewards you only once, keep track of which wells you have cleared as you work through a region.
