A Bush is a loose resource you harvest by hand, with no tool needed. Walk up to one and the prompt names it as a Bush and tells you to press F to harvest. Each one gives Wood and an Edible Root, then vanishes. At the start of the game, Bushes are where your Wood comes from. Eating the Edible Root raw can give you the Parasites effect.

Horizon has 20 Bush spots close by, so it is the first place to head for. Another 16 spots sit out in the open, away from any named place, so it pays to harvest any Bush you pass while travelling between locations. Wood goes into Coal and the Crude Bow, along with the axe, pickaxe, shiv and sledgehammer in each of Flint, Copper and Iron.
