The Flint Boulder is a boulder you break with a pickaxe to get Flint. A Stone Pickaxe is enough to break it, and that tool mines Stone as well as Flint. When you aim at one, the prompt shows the boulder's name beside a pickaxe icon. If that icon is red and crossed, the tool in your hand cannot break it.
The map has 200 Flint Boulder spots, and they cluster most heavily around Sonnenberg's Clinic, with 27 nearby. Shallow Rift and Horizon follow with 14 and 12, and Nomad Camp and Rat Queen's Crossing each sit near 9. Another 89 spots lie out in the open, away from any named place. At the Workbench, Flint goes into the Flint Axe, Flint Pickaxe, Flint Shiv and Flint Sledgehammer, and it is also used in the Repair Bench.
