The Copper Boulder is a boulder you break with a pickaxe for Copper. You need a Flint Pickaxe, which mines Sulfur, Copper, Coal, Flint and Stone. The Stone Pickaxe only mines Flint and Stone, so it will not break this one. When you aim at a boulder, the prompt shows its name with a pickaxe icon. A red, crossed icon means the tool in your hand cannot break it.
The map has 136 Copper Boulder spots. Rift Cave has the most nearby, with 17. Landscar Cave follows with 13 and Crater with 11. There are 6 near Improvised Radio Tower, and 5 each near Shattered Convoy and Shallow Rift. Another 69 sit out in the open, away from any named place. Take the Copper to a Stone Furnace and smelt it with Coal into Copper Ingots. A Copper Ingot then becomes Wire at the Workbench.
