Valley of Ashes, region II, is a basin left behind by a vast battle. The dead were never cleared from the field, and among the old cannons they have begun to stand up again, driven by a chemical force that does not tire. Main quest chapter 2, REGROUP, opens here.
The Lanterns in the valley are Guidepost, Demolished Path, The Climb, The Other Side, Military Camp and Quarry. The Pistol is first given here; pick it up in the toppled carriage. The map holds 14 chests and 3 notes, and the Ambers to collect are Dominatus, Indestructible Shell, Marksman's Bane, Perfect Copy, Perfectionism, Potent Concoction and Surplus. Enemies include the Risen Soldier, Risen Musketeer, Risen Grenadier, Risen Lancer, Howler and Spewer.
