Amber
Surplus increases the number of Catalysts you collect from the enemies you kill. Like other Ambers, it works passively once you equip it in an Amber Slot at a Lantern, so it pays off steadily across a run that involves plenty of fighting. It has 3 ranks, and each further copy you pick up raises it by one rank, up to rank 3.
Look for Surplus in a chest in the Valley of Ashes, close to the Military Camp Lantern. Another copy sits in a chest in the Caverns, with Old Mine as the nearest Lantern. A further copy waits in a chest in The Outskirts, near the Market Square Lantern. Picking up copies after the first is how you move the Amber towards its higher ranks, so these chests are worth opening if your build leans on Catalysts from kills.
