Y2K Popstar Dress To Impress: 2 Outfit Ideas (Pink Glitter Set and Foil Mini)

Two free, barefoot looks built from one shelf in the Dressing Room, with every colour, material and pose listed.

Two free, barefoot looks built from one shelf in the Dressing Room, with every colour, material and pose listed.

Y2K Popstar is one of the round themes in Dress To Impress on Roblox, and the game gives you only its name. We read it as an early-2000s pop star: pastel pink, lots of glitter and foil shine, a short skirt and a tiara. That reading is ours, not an in-game rule. Below are two complete looks we built in Freeplay Mode, with our own picture for each step: a pink Glitter puff-sleeve shirt with a pleated Foil mini, and a shimmery Foil mini dress with a heart cut-out. Every piece and material used is free.

Quick answer: Wear pastel pink with shine: a baby pink Glitter puff-sleeve shirt over a silver Foil pleated mini with cream curls and a hot pink tiara, or a pale shimmery Foil heart cut-out mini with pink and white curls.

Y2K Popstar outfit ideas in Dress To Impress

Dress To Impress shows no item names, so every piece here is described by where it sits in the Dressing Room, what it looks like and the exact palette spot we used. Both looks come from the short-dress shelf: two rows of dress forms against a purple wall. The hair in both is the long curls with a crown from Lana’s Salon (Feminine tab, 3rd card).

We started with only the curls on, which were lilac-blue from an earlier build. With nothing else worn, the character shows a black top and black shorts. They are the base body, not a piece: you can cover them but not take them off.

Look 1: Pink Glitter shirt and pleated mini

Our idea: a pop-video outfit in sugary pink, with glitter on the soft parts and silver foil shine on the skirt.

Go to the short-dress shelf and click the pale blue shirt with puff sleeves and black ribbons on the top row’s left stand. Its panel opens at “1/3: Shirt”, and a floating “Put On” label shows beside the stand.

Press “Put On”. The grey pleated mini skirt with white panels on the same stand comes with it: the Wearing panel now lists the hair, the shirt and the skirt.

The skirt came with the shirt.

We recoloured both pieces afterwards from the Wearing panel on the Freeplay Runway. You can also set the shirt’s colours while it previews, before you press “Put On”.

Open the Wearing panel and click the shirt’s picture. The pictures keep each piece’s original colours, so the shirt still shows pale blue there. Set “1/3: Shirt” to baby pink (column 2, row 2) on the Palette tab, then open “+” and click Glitter.

Move to “2/3: Shirt & Sleeves Ribbon” with the right arrow and choose light grey (column 3, row 8) with Foil. Then set “3/3: Neck Ribbon” to hot pink (column 2, row 5) with Glitter.

Click the skirt’s picture, which still shows grey. Set “1/4: Skirt” to light grey with Foil for a silver shine.

Set “2/4: Skirt Godets” to baby pink with Glitter, “3/4: Belt” to hot pink with Glitter and “4/4: Flower” to light grey with Foil.

Click the hair’s picture. Set “1/4: Preview” and “2/4: Preview” to cream (column 9, row 2) with Glitter.

Set “3/4: Crown” to hot pink with Glitter and “4/4: Gem” to baby pink with Glitter.

The finished look on the Freeplay Runway: a sparkly pale pink shirt with a puff sleeve and a hot pink ribbon tied at the neck, a hot pink beaded belt, and a short frilled mini that shines silver with pink panels. Cream-white curls fall past the waist under a hot pink tiara. Legs and feet are bare; no shoes were added.

Open Poses and pick Sparkle, the 6th Solo pose: one hand goes up to the head.

Look 2: Shimmery Foil heart mini

Our idea: one shiny little dress and bolder hair, with hot pink stripes and a silver tiara.

In the Wearing panel, take off the shirt and the skirt with the heart X under each picture, and keep the hair. The black base top and shorts show again until the dress goes on.

Shirt and skirt off: the base shorts show.
Click the pink mini dress with a heart-shaped cut-out at the chest on the short-dress shelf’s bottom row, left stand. Its panel reads “1/1: Preview”: the dress has one part. A floating “Put On” label shows beside the stand.

While the dress previews, choose light blue (column 4, row 2) and click Foil in “+”. Then press “Put On”.

On the runway the light blue Foil does not read as baby blue: the dress comes out a pale, shimmery white with a lilac tint, and the skin shows through the heart cut-out. It covers the base body completely. The Wearing panel now lists the hair and the dress, and the curls are still cream from Look 1.

Click the hair’s picture. Set “1/4: Preview” to hot pink (column 2, row 4, one row lighter than the Look 1 ribbon) with Glitter and “2/4: Preview” to baby pink with Glitter.

The finished look: a pale shimmery mini with the heart cut-out at the chest, long curls striped hot pink and white, and a silver tiara. Legs and feet are bare.

From the back, the pink and white curls cover almost the whole dress; only its pale hem shows below them.

This heart mini is a useful base: in our Cotton Candy Couture outfit ideas it is baby blue Silk, and in our Cyberpunk outfit ideas it is black Metallic under a bomber jacket. A change of colour and material gives it a different finish for each theme.

Why these looks read as Y2K Popstar

Early-2000s pop style is easy to spot: pastel pink, a lot of sparkle, a very short skirt and a tiara or other headpiece. Glitter on the soft parts and Foil or Metallic on the rest give the shiny, stage-light finish, and big styled hair finishes it. Our Cotton Candy Couture outfit ideas use the same pastel range in softer, candy colours; for Y2K Popstar we leaned on shine and the mini. This is plain styling advice; neither look has been through a real Y2K Popstar vote.

How to add Glitter and Foil shine

Click the piece on its stand, or click its picture in the Wearing panel if you already wear it.
Pick the part with the arrows; the label shows it as “n/N: …”.
Choose the colour on the Palette tab. The colour panel has four tabs: Wheel, Palette, Patterns and +.
Open “+” and click the material. Glitter gives a sparkle, Foil a bright, high-shine finish, Metallic a metal look.
Repeat for each part. For a new piece, set everything while it previews on you, then press “Put On”. Take a piece off with the heart X under its picture in the Wearing panel.

Material tiles with a gold star are star-locked; do not click them. The panel itself says “Some materials only work with higher qualities.” Glitter, Foil and Metallic, used here, are free.

Y2K Popstar colours on the Default palette

On the Default palette, columns run left to right through the hues, and rows go from light to dark; row 8 runs from white to black. These are the spots both looks use.

Y2K Popstar pieces to look for

None of these pieces has a name in the game, so look for them by place and shape. All of them are free in Freeplay Mode and worked on our account with no VIP and 0 stars. The small pictures show each piece in the colours we gave it.

Building it in Freeplay Mode first

Freeplay Mode has no timer, so it is the place to try colours and materials, walk the look down the Freeplay Runway and check how the Glitter and Foil read under the lights. The light blue Foil dress is a good example: it looks pale white on the runway, which you only find out by trying. Once a look works, you know which stand, palette spots and materials to go to when Y2K Popstar comes up in a real round. For more themes built the same way, see our Boho, Robot Takeover, Album Cover, Potion Maker, Monochrome Mood, Divine Beings, Drag, Sweet 16, Camouflage, Deserted Island, Summer Cruise, Favorite Show, Fairytale, Cotton Candy Couture, Cyberpunk and Birth Stones outfit ideas, and for pose ideas, every free pose in Dress To Impress.

How a theme round works

We have not had Y2K Popstar as a round yet; this is from ordinary server rounds on other themes (Plaid Fashion and Birds of Paradise). On the main lobby, the theme shows in a banner at the top with a timer under it, and the icon at the top centre opens a hint card for the theme. After dressing, each player walks the runway in turn, about 7 seconds each, while the others vote with five stars along the bottom of the screen. A “Results” card then ranks the players with the stars each earned, followed by an “Intermission” countdown of about a minute.

The “Pick Theme” button next to the intermission timer lets you choose the theme, but only with Theme Props. The panel reads “You have: 0 Theme Props” and offers a “Buy More” button priced at 75 Robux. We bought none and saw no free ones, so without Robux you wait for Y2K Popstar to roll.

What we have not checked

These looks have not walked a real Y2K Popstar round, so there is no score, star count or vote for them. We added no shoes, makeup, bags or accessories; the tiara on the curls is the only headpiece. Other Y2K staples such as butterfly clips or low-rise jeans were not looked for. Both looks were built with 0 stars and about 250 pink cash, and nothing was bought.

FAQ

What does Y2K Popstar mean in Dress To Impress?

The game gives only the name. We read it as early-2000s pop star style: pastel pink, glitter and foil shine, mini skirts and a tiara, and built both outfits that way.

Can I do Y2K Popstar without VIP?

Yes. Both looks were built on an account with no VIP and 0 stars, and every piece, colour and material used here worked on it. Glitter, Foil and Metallic are free materials; only tiles with a gold star are locked.

How do I make clothes sparkle in Dress To Impress?

Click the piece, pick the part with the arrows, choose a colour, then open “+” and click Glitter or Foil. Do it for each part you want to shine.

Where is the heart cut-out mini dress?

On the short-dress shelf in the Dressing Room, bottom row, left stand. It is pink on the stand; set its colour and material while it previews, then press “Put On”.

Why do black shorts show when I take clothes off?

The black top and shorts are the character’s base body. They can be covered by a dress or skirt but not taken off.

Can I pick the Y2K Popstar theme?

Only with Theme Props, which cost Robux (the “Buy More” button shows 75). We bought none and saw no free ones, so the theme has to come up on its own.
