A fortified checkpoint, formerly manned by soldiers protecting the Slumber Project. Today stands as a grim reminder of pre-Permafrost times, with collapsed barricades and frozen bodies. Those who search carefully might still find valuable items left behid by military.
In-game journal
Bunker Checkpoint is an exploration zone on the road from Horizon to Hunter's Glade. Soldiers once held this post to guard the Slumber Project. It is now a ruin from before the Permafrost, its defences broken and its dead still lying where they fell, and the army left behind gear that a patient search can still turn up.
Bring an axe. On the ground floor, Wooden pallets block the way into a walled yard that holds a Military crate and two Lockers. A locked Suitcase lies on the office floor and opens when you have a shiv in your hand. Around the site you can search 3 Military crates, 3 Lockers, a Medical Supply Box and 2 Damaged Vans, and mine 5 Moonrock Boulders. Recipe notes here teach Moon Cult Pants and the Refined Flint Pickaxe, and you can pick up the recording The Night of Crystal Moonlight.
Fast Travel: Horizon is about 200 m away in a straight line, and the Horizon safe zone is about 230 m away. The side quest Into the Dark has an objective that names Bunker Checkpoint.
