A dark cave with remnants of long-dead animals. Used to be a temporary shelter for travelers… until the permanent resident settled in.
In-game journal
Bone Cave is a cave on the Permafrost world map, scattered with the remains of animals that died long ago. Travellers once used it as a stopover for shelter, but that ended when something moved in for good: a bear now lives in the lower cavern.
Flint Boulders and Coal Boulders line the main route through the cave, so a run through it doubles as a mining trip. The surrounding area has 6 Flint Boulder spots, plus 2 Gold Boulder and 2 Moonrock Boulder spots. For loot, check the 7 frozen bodies and 3 suitcases close by, along with a wooden crate and a Medical Supply Box. Mushrooms grow in good numbers nearby, and there is a bottle of Moonshine to pick up. Stacks of planks can be broken here too. A recipe note in the cave teaches the Refined Flint Axe.
The main quests Dog Days and New Home both lead through Bone Cave. Fast Travel: Horizon is about 160 m away in a straight line, and the Horizon safe zone is about 190 m off. The Military Area sits about 60 m from the cave and Nomad Camp about 80 m.
