Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse has 29 Steam achievements. PlayStation 5 presents those same 29 objectives as trophies, using matching titles and the notice “Trophy earned!”; earning all the others also awards a platinum trophy. Seventeen Steam achievements stay hidden, displaying only their titles until completion, while the remaining 12 show their full descriptions from the outset.

Quick answer: Clear every boss, reach the true ending, finish all collection goals, and complete both challenge targets. Each one pops the moment its condition is met.

Boss achievements

Twelve achievements come from winning a fight. All are hidden on Steam, so only the title shows beforehand, and each one unlocks the instant the boss falls.

AchievementHow it unlocks
Blood TellsDefeat The Fallen, the first boss, in the flooded chamber under the Paris streets.
Snakes speared in the ruinsDefeat Medusa in the Serpents’ Lair (Holy Innocents’ Cemetery).
Flammable or inflammable?Take down Joan of Arc on the Paris tower’s rooftop in your first encounter with her.
Talos AversionDefeat Talos in the Clock Tower.
Blood for BloodDefeat Carmilla in the Library.
All that glitters is not gold.Defeat Mammon in Mammon’s Lair, behind the eye door in the Circle of Greed (Catacombs of Paris).
Death… killed?Defeat Death; it pops when he falls in the Transept of Notre-Dame.
Finish Hector’s workDefeat Isaac in the Heart of the Clock, Clock Tower.
Die monster! You don’t belong in this world!Defeat Dracula‘s second, winged form on the Castle Rooftops. The fight starts in the Throne Room.
Succubued to her wounds…After the first ending, reach the Succubus through the Hall of Mirrors and defeat her.
Shadow WorkDefeat your shadow (the boss labelled “???”) in the inner hall reached from the Notre-Dame altar after the four virtue trials.
I am Arthur, King of the BritonsDraw Excalibur in the Notre-Dame Chapel and defeat Arthur, The Brittle King.

Some achievements have specific requirements. Finish Hector’s work only registers for the second Isaac encounter in the Heart of the Clock, not the earlier illusion battle on the bridge. Shadow Work grants Rose The Self Arcana and a new skin as the shadow is defeated. For I am Arthur, King of the Britons, equip The Builder’s spell Fist of Talos, then keep pressing interact at the sword until the cutscene starts; the fight follows. Each boss name in the table links to its full strategy guide.

Story and ending achievements

All are hidden on Steam.

  • The King is dead, long live the King — balance the Scales of Justice by the tree in the Palace of Justice (Court of Justice, Paris Streets). Saint Louis awakens and gives you The Judge Arcana.
  • Belmont’s fall — pops at the bad ending in the throne room, when Death’s trap catches Rose. It triggers when you use the glowing clock on the Clock Tower Bridge without Soul Harvest equipped, and on the usual route Rose reaches that clock before she has the spell. The credits roll, and choosing Resume on the title screen continues the game. With Soul Harvest equipped, the clock leads on toward Isaac instead of the trap.
  • The hunt goes on — reaches the normal ending. Defeat Dracula without Absolution, the spell of The Self, equipped. The fight begins in the Throne Room and finishes against his second, winged form on the Castle Rooftops.
  • Curse lifted — reach the true ending. Ring the four Bells of Virtue (Courage, Temperance, Justice, Prudence) in the Gallery of the Four Virtues, each window opening only with its card equipped (Courage with Infernal Pyre, Prudence with Mirror Walk, Justice with Chains of Justice, Temperance with Freezing Path), beat your shadow at the altar to get The Self, then defeat Dracula’s second form on the Castle Rooftops with Absolution equipped.

The Scales of Justice and true ending guides linked above walk through these steps in detail, and the Death’s trap guide explains the bad ending.

Weapon achievements

Weapons split into seven families: whips, one-handed swords, two-handed swords, paired blades, sword and shield, spears, and fists.

  • Jack of All Trades, “Find a weapon of each family in the game” — pick up one weapon from each of the seven families. On a normal route, the Claymore chest in The Way of the Fist (Clock Tower) completes the set.
  • Stuff of Legends, “Find a legendary weapon” — get any Legendary weapon. The first one most players reach is the Vampire Killer, which Trevor Belmont hands over in the Notre-Dame infirmary.
  • Armed to the Fangs, “Find every weapon in the game” — collect all 28 weapons, four in each of the seven families.

The weapons list and the Vampire Killer guide track where each one sits.

Health and mana upgrades

Collector, “Find every health and mana upgrade”, wants every heart fragment: 24 Brave Heart Fragments for health and 24 Wise Heart Fragments for mana. Four fragments make one upgrade, so that is 6 health and 6 mana upgrades, with 3 Brave and 3 Wise fragments in each of the 8 main areas.

The Equipment screen shows a row of six heart slots for health and six for mana from the start. The heart fragments guide maps the pickups.

Mirrors, clues, and blessings

Narcissus, “Activate every mirror of life”, needs you to touch all 34 Mirrors of Life. These are the save points, and they also refill your health and potions. Walk up to each one and use the interact prompt.

The Greatest Detective, “Find every clues”, covers every Arcana clue. These come from spirits, hooded statues, notes, and paintings, and they are listed on the Tarot menu’s clue pages. The last one in a full run is “Kneeling is the Way” in the Hall of Mirrors. There are 40 in all; the clue locations guide lists every one by area.

Pick a card, any card, “Unlock all blessings for every arcana”, is the long one. Each Arcana card has Works of Mercy, tasks such as hitting enemies with its spell, and finishing them unlocks Blessings. The Arcana guide covers all 16 cards: The Cursed plus 15 more. To earn it, learn 42 Gifts, every Gift on the 15 cards you collect. Each finished Work of Mercy gives one Blessing to spend on one Gift. The Cursed, Rose’s starting card, does not count, and its second Work only shows “???”. The Works of Mercy and Gifts guide lists every task.

Distance, candles, and completion

Transylvanian Express, “Cover 19.86km”, tracks total distance travelled and comes naturally. On a normal route it pops in the Sewer Reservoir in Paris Streets about an hour and a half in.

Lamplighter, “Destroy 666 candles”, counts every candle you whip over the whole game. It unlocked in Notre-Dame’s Chapel of Patience, beyond the midway point of a run where candles had been broken along the way. About 1,529 candles are placed across the game, so you need a little under half; the Lamplighter guide lists the areas and rooms with the most.

Perfectionist Hunter, “Reach 100% game completion”, tracks the Progress percentage shown under the play time on the System tab. Each area also lists its own completion percentage, so you can see which one is still short.

Always the same roof, “Why does Dracula bother to hide things there anyway?”, is a riddle about a hidden spot. It popped in the Sanctuary of Solitude in the Master’s Quarters, the last stretch before the throne room, after climbing to the room’s upper balconies with the whip rings. The goal is the secret area at the very top of that room, which also holds a chest with the Gloomstone relic.

What counts toward 100% completion

Revealing the map is by far the largest piece, so moving through every room matters more than any single collectible.

  • Revealing the map, room by room (1,306, about three quarters of the total)
  • Experience statues (147)
  • Items picked up (115: 40 relics, 39 clues, 25 weapons, 5 movement skills and 6 key items)
  • Doors into the background found (70)
  • Brave Heart fragments (24) and Wise Heart fragments (24)
  • ATK UP books (14) and DEF UP books (14)
  • Area exits found (22)
  • Arcana absorbed (15)
  • Story steps (5)
  • Ferryman’s Wharfs (5)
  • The four virtues (4)

Secret areas on their own, Mirrors of Life, breakable walls, candles and enemies killed do not count. The “0/50 Remaining Markers” line on the map screen only tells you how many map markers you can still place, not how much of the game you have completed.

Totals per area

AreaThings counted
Paris Streets319
Holy Innocents’ Cemetery176
Catacombs of Paris211
Notre-Dame235
Main Hall267
Library139
Clock Tower236
Hall of Mirrors158
Master’s Quarters24

Each area has its own completion percentage, which shows where you are still short. Because map reveal dominates the count, exploring every room is the fastest way to close the gap.

Challenge achievements

Dialog Skipper, “Finish the game in less than 4 hours”, is a speed run: defeat Dracula’s second form with under 4 hours of play time on the System tab.

True Belmont is hidden and is earned for a kill made with the whip and the cross together. The exact timing is not spelled out, so keep using both on the same enemy. It unlocked during an ordinary enemy fight in the Stairway to Hell (Catacombs of Paris) while Rose was using both the whip and the Holy Cross spell from The Fallen Arcana.

Do achievements unlock with Custom Mode on?

Some do. With Custom Mode on, Prevent death switched on and the damage dealt setting raised, Blood Tells popped as soon as The Fallen fell, so boss achievements can still unlock under those settings. The Custom Mode menu itself warns that “some achievements” may be unobtainable while its options are on, so do not count on every one of the 29 working. If you are after the full list, switch Custom Mode off before the fights and challenges you care about.
