Dog Days is a main quest in the Horizon line, and it opens once Horizon's Kitchen is completed. It sends you to Bone Cave to win over a companion. The cave lies north of Horizon: go past the broken snowmobile, along a fenced trail under a cliff and across a frozen riverbed with wrecked cars. A wooden post with a tattered red flag marks the cave mouth. Enter the cave and push further in. In the next chamber a dog lies beside a dead survivor, lit by a flare. Look at it and press F to heal it, then press F again to feed it.

Healing takes any Bandage, and a Makeshift Bandage made from 2 Cloth is enough. Feeding needs 1 raw Meat; a cooked Dish does not count. Mine the Flint Boulders and Rock Boulders in the cave on your way through, because the next quest, New Home, needs Flint and a lot of Stone.
