In-game description
The Oil Lamp is a placeable item in Permafrost: once you have one, you set it down in the world where you want it to stand. Its tooltip frames it as a throwback rather than a modern fixture, a way to give the spot you choose the feel of nineteenth-century living.
The map has 6 spots where an Oil Lamp lies ready to pick up, and they sit away from the game's named places, so picking one up means keeping an eye out between landmarks rather than making for a particular location. If you would rather make your own than search the open map, head to a Workbench with Oil x1 and Scrap x1 in hand; that is the whole recipe, and it produces an Oil Lamp ready to place.
