Paranormal Investigator (often searched as “paranormal investigator dti”) is one of the round themes in Dress To Impress on Roblox. We have not had it as a round yet, so we have not seen its hint card, and the reading here is ours: dress as the person on the ghost hunt, or as the ghost they are looking for. Below are two complete looks we built in Freeplay Mode: a ghost hunter in a tan coat and black boots holding up a glowing lantern, and a pale ghostly spirit in a shimmery grey robe with white curls. The lantern is a free held item you pick up in the Dressing Room, and we show exactly where. Every piece, hairstyle and material used is free, so both looks work without VIP. For the other themes, see every Dress To Impress theme we have built.
Quick answer: For a ghost hunter, recolour the Halloween podium’s yellow raincoat tan Leather, wear its rain boots in black Leather and hold the free lantern from the podium table. For the ghost, wear the white hooded robe in pale grey Foil with white curls.
Paranormal Investigator outfit ideas in Dress To Impress
Dress To Impress shows no item names, so every piece here is described by where it sits, what it looks like and the exact palette spot we used on the Default palette. Both looks use the long curls with a small crown and gem from the hair chairs in Lana’s Salon, recoloured on the runway, and both keep the soft glam face the character already had. All colours and materials were set from the Wearing panel on the Freeplay Runway.
Look 1 (Ghost hunter): tan coat, black boots and a lantern
Our idea: the investigator on a night call, in a long work coat and sturdy boots, holding a lantern up to search a dark room. All three pieces are on or beside the Halloween display podium in the middle of the Dressing Room hall.
The black top and black shorts that show now are the base body, not a piece. They cannot be taken off, only covered; here the long coat covers them.

The lantern is a held item: the character holds it in one hand, with its light glowing yellow.

The Wearing panel now shows four pictures: the hair, the raincoat, the rain boots and the lantern.

Olive read bright olive, almost lime, under the runway lights, too loud for a ghost hunt, so we changed it later (step 10).

The finished look is a long glossy tan coat over bare legs, tall black Leather boots, chestnut curls with black streaks, a small black crown with a red gem, and the lantern held out at the side.

Up close, the coat has a buttoned front and a glossy Leather shine. The raised sleeve can look darker brown where the runway light does not reach it.

From the back, the chestnut curls fall over the coat to the waist, above the black boots.

Confident turns the character side-on with one knee lifted and the lantern arm raised high, as if lighting the way into a dark room. It is the pose that shows the lantern best.

Look 2 (Ghostly spirit): pale robe, black belt and white curls
Our idea: the thing being investigated, a pale ghost in a long shimmery robe with white hair. It needs one clothing piece, from the shelves along the hall wall.

The finished look is a long pale robe that reads white with a grey shimmer under the lights, a black belt at the waist, long white-silver curls and a black crown with its red gem. The hood stayed down for us; we did not see it raised. The look is barefoot.

From the back, the white curls run down most of the robe.

Twilight crosses the arms in front of the chest with the head tilted, a still, eerie stance that suits a ghost.

Add to Google Preferences →How to get the lantern in Dress To Impress
The lantern is the one search-light item we found for this theme, and it is free. It is not on a shelf, so it is easy to walk past.

- Teleport to the Dressing Room and walk to the Halloween display circle in the middle of the hall.
- Step onto the podium. To the right of it is a small low stand beside a small white bust; the orange-brown oil lantern sits on it.
- Click the lantern. The colour panel opens at “1/4: Preview” and a “Put On” label appears.
- Click “Put On”. The character now holds the lantern in one hand, and it shows in the Wearing panel like any other piece.
- To drop it, click the heart X under its picture in the Wearing panel.
We kept the lantern’s own colours (orange-brown metal and a glowing yellow light); it has four parts, so it can be recoloured like clothing. We did not see a flashlight, camera or detector anywhere in the Dressing Room.
Why these looks read as Paranormal Investigator
The name points to the investigator, so a held light is the clearest clue you can give voters: the lantern reads as “searching in the dark” even from far down the runway, and a pose that raises it, like Confident, makes the point at once. Keep the clothes practical and muted, a long coat and work boots in tan, brown and black, and Leather gives them a worn, outdoor sheen. The ghost look goes the other way: one pale colour from head to toe, a shimmery material like Foil, and white hair, so the whole figure looks washed out. This is plain styling advice; we have not seen how either look scores in a real round.
How to recolour a piece and set its material
- Click the piece on its shelf, mannequin or stand, then “Put On” when the label shows. Once you wear it, click its picture in the Wearing panel to open its colour panel again.
- Pick the part with the arrows beside the part name (“1/2: Preview”, “2/2: Preview”, “3/4: Crown” and so on). Each part takes its own colour and material.
- Open the “+” tab and click the material, such as Silk, Leather, Foil or Metallic.
- Choose its colour on the Palette tab (the Default palette: columns are hues, rows run light to dark, and row 8 runs from white to black).
- Repeat for every part. The colours stay on the piece after you close the panel.
To take a piece off, click the heart X under its picture in the Wearing panel. The Patterns tab sits next to Palette; we did not use it for these looks.
Paranormal Investigator colours on the Default palette

Paranormal Investigator pieces to look for
None of these pieces has a name in the game, so look for them by place and shape. All of them are free and worked on our account with no VIP and 0 stars.

Poses for Paranormal Investigator
We used Confident for the ghost hunter and Twilight for the ghostly spirit, both free under Solo in the Poses menu. For the full list with a picture of each, see every free pose in Dress To Impress.
Building it in Freeplay Mode first
Freeplay Mode has no timer, so it is the place to find the lantern stand, try coat colours (our first olive try was too bright), and walk both looks down the Freeplay Runway to see how they read under the lights. Once a look works, you know which mannequin, which palette spots and which materials to go to when Paranormal Investigator comes up in a real round. For more themes built the same way, see our Boho, Robot Takeover, Album Cover, Potion Maker, Monochrome Mood, Divine Beings, Drag, Sweet 16, Camouflage, Deserted Island, Summer Cruise, Favorite Show, Fairytale, Cotton Candy Couture, Cyberpunk, Birth Stones, Y2K Popstar, Video Game Character, Top Model, Fast Food Mascot, DJ, Award Show, Drama Queen, Instagram Model, Day of the Dead, Malibu Dream, Stained Glass, Summer Camp, Modern Royalty, Trad Goth, Wonderland, Trip To London, Pop Art Princess, Sugar And Spice, Cursed Lagoon, Complementary Colors, Galactic Glam, Dancer, Midnight Circus, Jellyfish and Garden Tea Party outfit ideas.
How a theme round works
We have not had Paranormal Investigator as a round yet; this is from ordinary server rounds on other themes. On the main lobby, the theme shows in a banner at the top with a timer under it. After dressing, each player walks the runway in turn, about 7 seconds each, while the others vote with five stars along the bottom of the screen, with a “Voting complete!” banner between players. A “Results” card then ranks the players, followed by an “Intermission” countdown.
The “Pick Theme” button next to the intermission timer lets you choose the theme, but only with Theme Props. The panel reads “You have: 0 Theme Props” and offers a “Buy More” button priced at 75 Robux. We bought none and saw no free ones, so without Robux you wait for Paranormal Investigator to roll.
What we have not checked
No round we joined rolled Paranormal Investigator, so these looks have not walked a real Paranormal Investigator round: there is no score, star count or vote for them, and we have not seen the theme’s hint card. We used no vanity face for either look, even though the vanity has spooky full-face cards. We saw no camera, flashlight or detector item; the lantern is the only search-light item we found. Both looks were built with 0 stars, and nothing was bought.
FAQ
What is Paranormal Investigator in Dress To Impress?
The game gives only the theme’s name. We read it two ways: dress as the investigator on a ghost hunt (a long coat, boots and a lantern to search the dark), or as the ghost being investigated (a pale robe and white hair).
Is there a lantern or flashlight in Dress To Impress?
There is a free lantern. It sits on the small low stand at the right of the Halloween display podium in the middle of the Dressing Room hall; click it, then “Put On”, and the character holds it. We did not find a flashlight.
Can I do Paranormal Investigator without VIP?
Yes. Both looks were built on an account with no VIP and 0 stars, and every piece, hairstyle, colour and material used here, including the lantern, worked on it with no lock or price.
Where is the coat for the ghost hunter look?
It is the yellow raincoat on the Halloween display podium, on the mannequin at the left, with its yellow rain boots at the mannequin’s feet. Recolour the coat light tan (column 4, row 1) and the boots black (column 9, row 8), both in Leather.
Which pose fits Paranormal Investigator?
We used the free Solo pose Confident for the ghost hunter (side-on, the lantern raised high) and Twilight for the ghost (arms crossed, head tilted).
