Trad Goth is one of the round themes in Dress To Impress on Roblox. We have not had it as a round yet, so we have not seen its hint card, and the reading here is ours: classic 80s goth, all black, with lace and sheer layers, leather, fishnets, studs, chains, big dark hair and a little silver. Below are two complete looks we built in Freeplay Mode, a layered black lace dress and a studded leather set, with our own picture for each step. Every piece, hairstyle and material used is free. For the other themes, see every Dress To Impress theme we have built.
Quick answer: Go all black and vary the materials (Silk, Leather, Metallic silver for chains and the crown), then add the free fishnet thigh-highs and black curls. The five-part plum dress with studded gloves, or the Halloween display’s crop top set, works best.
Trad Goth outfit ideas in Dress To Impress
Dress To Impress shows no item names, so every piece here is described by where it sits, what it looks like and the exact palette spot we used on the Default palette. Both looks use the long curls with a small crown and gem, from the hair-dryer chairs in Lana’s Salon (Hairstyles, Feminine tab, second row, left card); we came in wearing them light brown with a gold crown and recoloured them on the runway. Both looks keep the soft glam face from the vanity that we already had on. It is not a goth face: the vanity has darker face cards, but we did not use any of them for these looks. Both are barefoot: we wore no shoes.
Look 1: Black lace dress with fishnets and studded gloves
Our idea: a short, layered dress turned all black, with fishnets, studded gloves and big black curls under a silver crown. The dress is on the short-dress shelf in the Dressing Room, and the fishnets and gloves are on the shelf facing it; the colours are set on the Freeplay Runway.
The black top and black shorts that show now are the base body, not a piece. They cannot be taken off, only covered, and the dress covers them.

The dress has five parts: “1/5: Dress”, “2/5: Sheer Overlay”, “3/5: Shawl”, “4/5: Lace” and “5/5: Overlay Lace”. It is a short strapless mini, not a gown.

The Wearing panel now shows four pictures: the hair, the plum dress, the fishnets and the studded gloves.

The finished look is an all-black short dress with a laced front and a leather shawl, long studded gloves, black fishnet thigh-highs and long black curls under a silver crown with a red gem.

Twilight puts one hand up to the head, which shows off a studded glove next to the crown and lets the curls fall down one side.

From the back, the long black curls cover most of the dress, with the fishnets below.

Look 2: Leather jacket, chained crop top and pleated skirt
Our idea: swap the lace for leather and chains: a black crop top and pleated mini with silver chains, a black jacket worn open over them, the same fishnets and a black crown. The crop top set and the jacket are on the Halloween display circle in the middle of the Dressing Room hall.

We used the same crop top and skirt in black, gold and magenta for our Day of the Dead outfit ideas.

The Wearing panel now shows the hair, the fishnets, the crop top, the skirt and the jacket; the jacket’s picture shows a dark lace-up leather jacket.

The black base top and shorts are still there under the crop top and skirt; the crop top leaves the waist bare.

The finished look is a black leather jacket open over a black crop top with silver trim, a black pleated mini with silver chains and small cross charms, black fishnets and black curls under a black crown with a red gem.

Velvet stands with the feet wide and the arms down, so the open jacket, the chains and the fishnets all stay in view.

From the back, the curls fall over the jacket to the pale waistband, with the black pleats and the fishnets below.

Add to Google Preferences →Why these looks read as Trad Goth
An all-black outfit can turn flat on the runway, so the trick is to keep the colour the same and change the material: Silk on the dress or skirt, Leather on the shawl or jacket, Default on the lace, and Metallic silver on the chains and the crown. Fishnets and studs carry most of the goth feeling on their own, and big black curls finish it. One small deep red accent, here the gem on the crown, is enough; more colour starts to pull the look towards other themes. For a softer all-black idea without the fishnets and studs, our Monochrome Mood outfit ideas include a black look in mixed materials. This is plain styling advice; we have not seen how either look scores in a real round.
How to recolour a piece and set its material
- Click the piece on its shelf or stand, then “Put On” when the label shows. Once you wear it, click its picture in the Wearing panel to open its colour panel again.
- Pick the part with the arrows beside the part name (“1/5: Dress”, “2/5: Sheer Overlay” and so on). Each part takes its own colour and material.
- Open the “+” tab and click the material, such as Default, Silk, Leather, Matte, Metallic or Glitter.
- Choose its colour on the Palette tab (the Default palette: columns are hues, rows run light to dark, and row 8 runs from white to black).
- Repeat for every part. The colours stay on the piece after you close the panel.
To take a piece off, click the heart X under its picture in the Wearing panel. Material tiles with a gold star are star-locked; every material used here has no star. The Patterns tab sits next to Palette; we did not use it for these looks. “Lace” on the plum dress is the name of a part, not a material: we saw no lace material.
Trad Goth colours on the Default palette
Rows count from the top of the palette, columns from the left. Row 8 is the white-to-black row.
| Colour | Column | Row | Used for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Black | 9 | 8 | Nearly everything: the dress, shawl, curls, fishnets, crop top, skirt, jacket and the Look 2 crown |
| Dark charcoal | 7 | 8 | Look 1 lace and overlay lace on the dress |
| Silver-grey | 3 | 8 | Look 1 crown; Look 2 crop top trim, skirt chains and waistband, jacket details (all Metallic) |
| Deep red | 1 | 7 | The gem on the crown in both looks |

Poses for Trad Goth
We used Twilight for the lace dress and Velvet for the leather set, both free under Solo in the Poses menu. For the full list with a picture of each, see every free pose in Dress To Impress.
Building it in Freeplay Mode first
Freeplay Mode has no timer, so it is the place to try black on black part by part, see which materials keep the layers apart, walk the look down the Freeplay Runway and check how it reads. Once a look works, you know which shelf, which palette spots and which materials to go to when Trad Goth comes up in a real round. For more themes built the same way, see our Boho, Robot Takeover, Album Cover, Potion Maker, Monochrome Mood, Divine Beings, Drag, Sweet 16, Camouflage, Deserted Island, Summer Cruise, Favorite Show, Fairytale, Cotton Candy Couture, Cyberpunk, Birth Stones, Y2K Popstar, Video Game Character, Top Model, Fast Food Mascot, DJ, Award Show, Drama Queen, Instagram Model, Day of the Dead, Malibu Dream, Stained Glass, Summer Camp, Modern Royalty, Wonderland, Trip To London, Pop Art Princess, Sugar And Spice and Paranormal Investigator outfit ideas.
How a theme round works
We have not had Trad Goth as a round yet; this is from ordinary server rounds on other themes. On the main lobby, the theme shows in a banner at the top with a timer under it. After dressing, each player walks the runway in turn, about 7 seconds each, while the others vote with five stars along the bottom of the screen, with a “Voting complete!” banner between players. A “Results” card then ranks the players, followed by an “Intermission” countdown.
The “Pick Theme” button next to the intermission timer lets you choose the theme, but only with Theme Props. The panel reads “You have: 0 Theme Props” and offers a “Buy More” button priced at 75 Robux. We bought none and saw no free ones, so without Robux you wait for Trad Goth to roll.
What we have not checked
No round we joined rolled Trad Goth, so these looks have not walked a real Trad Goth round: there is no score, star count or vote for them, and we have not seen the theme’s hint card. We did not use any of the vanity’s darker face cards; both looks wear the soft glam face. We saw no platform boots and no lace material on the “+” tab. Both looks were built with 0 stars, and nothing was bought.
FAQ
What is Trad Goth in Dress To Impress?
The game gives only the theme’s name. We read it as classic 80s goth: all black, with lace and sheer layers, leather, fishnets, studs, silver chains and big dark hair.
Can I do Trad Goth without VIP?
Yes. Both looks were built on an account with no VIP and 0 stars, and every piece, hairstyle, colour and material used here worked on it, with no lock or price on any of them. Tiles with a gold star on the “+” tab are star-locked; we used none.
Where are the fishnets and studded gloves in Dress To Impress?
On the shelf on the left wall facing the short-dress shelf in the Dressing Room. The fishnet thigh-highs are the middle of the three pairs on the lower shelf, and the studded gloves are the third pair from the left on the top shelf.
Where are the crop top, pleated skirt and jacket?
On the Halloween display circle in the middle of the Dressing Room hall. The crop top is on the front-left mannequin, and one Put On gives you the chained pleated skirt with it; the jacket is on the mannequin on the right side of the podium.
Which colours and pose fit Trad Goth?
Black (column 9, row 8) for almost everything, dark charcoal (column 7, row 8) for lace, silver-grey (column 3, row 8) with Metallic for chains and a crown, and deep red (column 1, row 7) for one small accent. We used the free Solo poses Twilight for the dress and Velvet for the leather set.
