Modern Royalty is one of the round themes in Dress To Impress on Roblox. We have not had it as a round yet, so we have not seen its hint card, and the reading here is ours: royal dressing as it looks today, with one strong regal colour such as royal blue or deep red, gold accents, a crown, long gloves and polished hair. Below are two complete looks we built in Freeplay Mode, a royal blue strapless dress with long white gloves and a red-and-gold ruffled coat, with our own picture for each step. Every piece, hairstyle and material used is free. For the other themes, see every Dress To Impress theme we have built.
Quick answer: Pick one regal colour for a single base piece, add gold and a crown. Our two looks: a royal blue Silk strapless dress with long white gloves and black curls, and a red Silk ruffled coat trimmed in gold-yellow Metallic.
Modern Royalty outfit ideas in Dress To Impress
Dress To Impress shows no item names, so every piece here is described by where it sits, what it looks like and the exact spot we used on the Default palette (columns count from the left, rows from the top). Both looks use the long curls with a crown, from the hair-dryer chairs in Lana’s Salon (Hairstyles, Feminine tab, second row, left card); its crown and the gem on it take their own colours. Both looks are barefoot: we wore no shoes.
Look 1: Royal blue strapless with white gloves
Our idea: one clean, fitted dress in a deep royal blue, long white gloves for polish, and black curls under a gold crown with a blue gem. Both pieces sit on the right side of the Dressing Room hall; the colours are set on the Freeplay Runway.

The black top and black shorts that show once everything is off are the base body, not a piece. They cannot be taken off, only covered, and the dress covers them.

The Wearing panel now shows three pictures: the hair, the white strapless dress and the gloves.

We left the gloves white. Step 9: Open Poses and pick Jewel under Solo, at the end of the list that starts with Blossom.

The finished look is a royal blue strapless dress, long white gloves, long black curls and a gold crown with a blue gem. Jewel rests one gloved hand at the chest.

Up close, the Silk gives the blue a soft shine, and the white glove stands out against it.

From the back, the long black curls fall over the blue dress.

Look 2: Red-and-gold court coat
Our idea: a ceremonial red coat, the colour of a royal guard’s tunic, with gold ruffles and cuffs over cream, and warm brown curls under the same gold crown. One click on the short-dress shelf puts on both the coat and its matching bloomers.

That one “Put On” wore two pieces: the coat set and its matching bloomers. The Wearing panel shows the hair, the coat and the bloomers.

The finished look is an open red coat with yellow-gold cuffs and ruffles, a cream top edged in yellow, cream bloomers with yellow bands, chestnut curls and the gold crown.

Closer in, the cream top and bloomers sit between the red coat panels, with yellow at every edge.

Starry raises one hand to the head and turns the body to the side, which shows the coat’s red tails and the yellow cuff on the raised arm.

From the back, the red coat tails hang over the cream bloomers, with the brown curls down to the waist.

Add to Google Preferences →Why these looks read as Modern Royalty
Royal dressing today is simple shapes in strong, deep colours, finished with a few precious details. So keep each look to one regal base colour (royal blue or deep red), add gold in small places such as the crown, cuffs and ruffles, and use a glossy material like Silk so the colour looks rich rather than flat. White or cream (long gloves, a cream top) adds the formal polish, and the crown in the curls says royalty without needing a costume. Match the crown’s gem to the outfit when you can. This is plain styling advice; we have not seen how either look scores in a real round.
How to recolour a piece and set its material
- Click the piece on its shelf or stand, then “Put On” when the label shows. Once you wear it, click its picture in the Wearing panel to open its colour panel again.
- Pick the part with the arrows beside the part name (“1/6: Preview”, “2/6: Sleeve Bows” and so on). Each part takes its own colour and material.
- Open the “+” tab and click the material, such as Silk or Metallic.
- Choose the colour on the Palette tab (the Default palette: columns are hues, rows run light to dark, and row 8 runs from white to black).
- Repeat for every part. The colours stay on the piece after you close the panel.
To take a piece off, click the heart X under its picture in the Wearing panel. Material tiles with a gold star are star-locked; Silk and Metallic are not.

Poses for Modern Royalty
We used Jewel for the blue strapless look and Starry for the red coat, both free under Solo in the Poses menu. For the full list with a picture of each, see every free pose in Dress To Impress.
Building it in Freeplay Mode first
Freeplay Mode has no timer, so it is the place to try a colour and material part by part, see how a swatch reads under the runway lights and check the look from the front and back. Once a look works, you know which shelf, which palette spots and which materials to go to when Modern Royalty comes up in a real round. For more themes built the same way, see our Boho, Robot Takeover, Album Cover, Potion Maker, Monochrome Mood, Divine Beings, Drag, Sweet 16, Camouflage, Deserted Island, Summer Cruise, Favorite Show, Fairytale, Cotton Candy Couture, Cyberpunk, Birth Stones, Y2K Popstar, Video Game Character, Top Model, Fast Food Mascot, DJ, Award Show, Drama Queen, Instagram Model, Day of the Dead, Malibu Dream, Stained Glass, Summer Camp, Trad Goth and Wonderland outfit ideas.
How a theme round works
We have not had Modern Royalty as a round yet; this is from ordinary server rounds on other themes. On the main lobby, the theme shows in a banner at the top with a timer under it. After dressing, each player walks the runway in turn, about 7 seconds each, while the others vote with five stars along the bottom of the screen, with a “Voting complete!” banner between players. A “Results” card then ranks the players, followed by an “Intermission” countdown.
The “Pick Theme” button next to the intermission timer lets you choose the theme, but only with Theme Props. The panel reads “You have: 0 Theme Props” and offers a “Buy More” button priced at 75 Robux. We bought none and saw no free ones, so without Robux you wait for Modern Royalty to roll.
What we have not checked
No round we joined rolled Modern Royalty, so these looks have not walked a real Modern Royalty round: there is no score, star count or vote for them, and we have not seen the theme’s hint card. We did not look for a cape, a sash, a tiara other than the hairstyle’s crown, or a separate jewellery piece, and we did not change the face or makeup for these looks. Both looks were built with 0 stars, and nothing was bought.
FAQ
What counts as Modern Royalty in Dress To Impress?
The game gives only the theme’s name. We read it as royal dressing today: one strong regal colour such as royal blue or deep red, gold details, a crown and polished touches such as long white gloves.
Can I do Modern Royalty without VIP?
Yes. Both looks were built on an account with no VIP and 0 stars, and every piece, hairstyle, colour and material used here worked on it, with no lock or price on any of them. Silk, Metallic and Glitter are free materials; tiles with a gold star are star-locked.
Where do I find a crown in Dress To Impress?
The crown here is part of a hairstyle: the long curls with a crown from the hair-dryer chairs in Lana’s Salon (Hairstyles, Feminine tab, second row, left card). The crown and its gem are parts 3/4 and 4/4 of the hair, so you can colour them gold and match the gem to your outfit.
Which colours work for Modern Royalty?
We used navy (column 4, row 7) with Silk, which reads royal blue, and deep red (column 1, row 7) with Silk, with gold-yellow (column 8, row 4) with Metallic for the crown and trims and cream (column 9, row 2) as the light colour.
Which pose fits Modern Royalty?
Jewel, with one gloved hand at the chest, for the blue strapless look, and Starry, with one hand raised to the head, for the red coat. Both are free under Solo.
