Ladders 101: A Fallen Man's Message is a recording lying at Woodcutters Outpost, a cold zone. The nearest fast travel post is Fast Travel: Church, about 360 m away in a straight line. The recording belongs to the side quest Ladders 101, in which you find out what happened with the hunting towers.
The journal sums it up as the moments just before things went wrong. A man is stranded after someone saw through his plans and got Dan to topple his ladder. He curses, then pulls himself together and decides to climb down carefully even though the footing is treacherous. Once down, he means to track Dan to a second tower close to Military Convoy and settle the score with him before any talking. The recording starts playing on its own as soon as you pick it up. Recordings you pick up are kept in the journal, where the MEMOS page lets you play, pause or stop them.
