Thrifted Dress To Impress: 2 Mix-and-Match Outfit Ideas (Patchwork Boho and Layered Coat)

Two Freeplay looks, a lace vest dress and a ruffled coat set, with every recolour listed by palette position.

Two Freeplay looks, a lace vest dress and a ruffled coat set, with every recolour listed by palette position.

Thrifted (searched a lot as “thrifted dti”) is one of the round themes in Dress To Impress on Roblox. The game gives only the name, so the reading here is ours: a lucky find on a thrift-store rack, where nothing was bought as a set. Both looks mix vintage pieces in colours that do not quite match: golden ochre, burgundy, dark teal, cream and a faded blue. We built both in Freeplay Mode and took our own pictures of each step. Every piece, colour, material and pose used is free, so both work without VIP. For the other themes, see every Dress To Impress theme we have built.

Quick answer: Mix pieces that do not match, in vintage colours: an ochre floral smock dress with burgundy lace, plum-red over-knee socks and fringed boots, or a ruffled coat set with every part in a clashing colour.

Thrifted outfit ideas in Dress To Impress

Dress To Impress shows no item names, so every piece here is described by where it sits, what it looks like and the exact spot we used on the Default palette (columns from the left, rows from the top). Both looks share the same long straight hair and brown fringed knee boots.

Look 1: Patchwork boho smock with odd socks

Our idea: a vintage floral smock dress with lace in four different colours, worn with long socks that belong to something else. The dress is on the boho mannequin beside the tops shelf, and the socks are on the shelf left of the short dresses.

Start with only the hair and boots on: long straight hair from the “Straight” tab of “Hairstyles” at the Lana’s Salon hair chairs (ours was already deep red) and the brown fringed knee boots. Take anything else off with the heart X under its picture in the Wearing panel.

The black top and black shorts that show now are the base body, not a piece. They cannot be taken off, only covered; the dress covers them in this look.

Go to the tops shelf in the Dressing Room. The boho mannequin stands beside it in a white floral dress with a tan-brown vest and a wide white sun hat, with the fringed boots on its base.

Click the white dress with the vest. Its colour panel opens at “1/6: Dress”. Closing the panel kept the dress on for us.

Go to the left-wall shelf just left of the short-dress shelf. At the bottom are the over-the-knee socks with lace tops: click them (the panel shows “1/2: Preview”), then “Put On”.

The Wearing panel now shows four pictures: the hair, the boots, the dress and the socks.

Four pieces in the Wearing panel.
Walk to the Freeplay Runway and click the dress’s picture in the Wearing panel. We first set “1/6: Dress” to bright yellow (column 8, row 6), but it read as neon yellow on the runway, so we changed it to ochre at the end (step 12). The next few pictures still show that first yellow.
Step to “2/6: Dress Stitching” with the arrow and set it to periwinkle blue (column 4, row 3). These are the thin lines around the neckline.

Set “3/6: Ribbon”, the tie at the neck, to dark teal (column 5, row 7) with Leather.
Set “4/6: Dress Lace” to burgundy (column 1, row 7). This is the lace down the front of the dress, around the neckline and along the hem.

The finished look is a golden ochre floral-print smock dress with deep red lace down the front and at the hem, a teal ribbon tie at the neck, a cream vest with teal lace at the arms, over-the-knee socks that read plum-purple on the runway with cream frilled tops, the brown fringed boots and long deep red hair.

Look 2: Layered coat set in clashing colours

Our idea: a matching coat set worn as if every part came from a different rack. The coat set is on the short-dress shelf, and its bloomers come with it.

In the Wearing panel, take off the dress and the socks from Look 1 with the heart X under each picture. Keep the hair and the boots.

The black base top and shorts show again here; the coat set’s top and bloomers cover them.

The finished look is an open golden ochre coat with cream ruffled collar and cuffs and deep red bows at the elbows, a teal bandeau top with a cream frill and a small red bow, bright blue bloomer shorts with cream bands, a cream ruffle hem and a small teal bow, a grey-brown garter belt over them, the brown fringed boots and long chestnut-brown hair. The Denim blue reads brighter than faded on the runway.

Why these looks read as Thrifted

A thrift find rarely comes as a full matching outfit, so make the pieces look picked one at a time. Give each part of a piece its own colour instead of one colour for the whole thing, and keep those colours a little old-fashioned: golden ochre, burgundy, dark teal, cream and a washed blue. Lace, ruffles, small bows and a floral print add the vintage feel, and odd extras such as over-the-knee socks or a garter belt over shorts make it look put together from a rack. Worn boots tie both looks down. This is plain styling advice; we have not seen how either look scores in a real round. For a softer take on the same earthy colours, see our Boho outfit ideas.

How to recolour a piece and set its material

  1. Click the piece on its shelf or mannequin. For a piece you have not put on yet, set its colours while it is previewing, then press “Put On”. For a piece you already wear, click its picture in the Wearing panel.
  2. Pick the part with the arrows beside the part name (“1/6: Dress”, “2/6: Dress Stitching” and so on). Each part takes its own colour and material.
  3. Set the material, such as Matte, Leather, Denim, Metallic or Silk.
  4. Choose its colour on the Palette tab (the Default palette: columns are hues, rows run light to dark, row 1 holds browns and tans, and row 8 runs from white to black). The Wheel tab next to it shows the colour’s HEX code.
  5. Repeat for every part. The colours stay on the piece after you close the panel.

To take a piece off, click the heart X under its picture in the Wearing panel. The Patterns tab sits next to Palette; we did not use it for these looks.

Poses for Thrifted

We used Sparkle for the patchwork smock and Daisy for the layered coat set, both free under Solo in the Poses menu. For the full list with a picture of each, see every free pose in Dress To Impress.

Building it in Freeplay Mode first

Freeplay Mode has no timer, so it is the place to try colours part by part until the mix clashes in the right way. The smock dress has six parts, the coat set six and the bloomers seven, which is a lot to set in a hurry. Once a look works, you know which shelf, which palette spots and which materials to go to when Thrifted comes up in a real round. For more themes built the same way, see our Boho, Robot Takeover, Album Cover, Potion Maker, Monochrome Mood, Divine Beings, Drag, Sweet 16, Camouflage, Deserted Island, Summer Cruise, Favorite Show, Fairytale, Cotton Candy Couture, Cyberpunk, Birth Stones, Y2K Popstar, Video Game Character, Top Model, Fast Food Mascot, DJ, Award Show, Drama Queen, Instagram Model, Day of the Dead, Malibu Dream, Stained Glass, Summer Camp, Modern Royalty, Trad Goth, Wonderland, Trip To London, Pop Art Princess, Sugar And Spice, Paranormal Investigator, Cursed Lagoon, Complementary Colors, Galactic Glam, Dancer, Midnight Circus, Jellyfish, Garden Tea Party, Enchanted Curse, Harvest Festival, Lazy But Cute, Possessed and Night At The Orchard outfit ideas.

How a theme round works

We have not had Thrifted as a round yet; this is from ordinary server rounds on other themes. On the main lobby, the theme shows in a banner at the top with a timer under it. After dressing, each player walks the runway in turn, about 7 seconds each, while the others vote with five stars along the bottom of the screen, with a “Voting complete!” banner between players. A “Results” card then ranks the players, followed by an “Intermission” countdown.

The “Pick Theme” button next to the intermission timer lets you choose the theme, but only with Theme Props. The panel reads “You have: 0 Theme Props” and offers a “Buy More” button priced at 75 Robux. We bought none and saw no free ones, so without Robux you wait for Thrifted to roll.

What we have not checked

No round we joined rolled Thrifted, so these looks have not walked a real round: there is no score, star count or vote for them. We did not look for price tags, a tote bag or any thrift-shop piece. Both looks were built with 0 stars, and nothing was bought.

FAQ

What is Thrifted in Dress To Impress?

The game gives only the theme’s name. We read it as an outfit found on a thrift-store rack: vintage pieces that do not match, in faded colours such as ochre, burgundy, teal and cream.

Can I do Thrifted without VIP?

Yes. Both looks were built on an account with no VIP and 0 stars, and every piece, hairstyle, colour, material and pose used here worked on it, with no lock or price on any of them.

Where is the ruffled coat set in Dress To Impress?

In the Dressing Room, on the short-dress shelf: the sage-green coat set in the middle of the top row. Its “Put On” also wears the matching bloomers. It is free.

Where is the lace dress with the vest?

On the boho mannequin beside the tops shelf in the Dressing Room: the white floral dress with a tan-brown vest. Click it to open its six parts; the brown fringed boots stand on the same mannequin’s base.

Where are the lace-top over-the-knee socks?

On the left-wall shelf just left of the short-dress shelf, at the bottom. Click them, then “Put On”; they have two parts, the sock and the lace top.
