Color Split (searched most as “color split dti”) is one of the round themes in Dress To Impress on Roblox. The game gives only the name, so we read it the way it sounds: one outfit cut into two loud colors, one color on top and a different one below, with a hard line between them. We built two looks in Freeplay Mode, red over blue and yellow over magenta, and took our own pictures of every step. Every piece and color here worked without Robux, so both looks work without VIP. For the other themes, see every Dress To Impress theme we have built.

Quick answer: For Color Split, put two loud colors on the top and bottom halves: a bright red oversized cardigan over blue knee-high stiletto boots, or a yellow cut-out crop top over a magenta plaid pleated mini with magenta knee-high boots.

Color Split outfit ideas in Dress To Impress

Dress To Impress shows no item names, so every piece here is described by where it sits, what it looks like and its color on the Default palette (columns from the left, rows from the top, light to dark; the bottom row runs from white to black). Set a piece’s colors while it is still a preview, stepping through its parts with the arrows beside the part label (“1/3: Preview” and so on), then press “Put On”. The number after the slash is how many color parts the piece has: a piece at “1/1” takes one color only. The black top and shorts in some pictures are the base body. We did not change the face for either look: both keep the blank default face, with no makeup card used.

Hair and boots for both looks

Set these up first: both looks keep the same two-color hair and the same boots, and only the boots change color for Look 2.

Go to Lana’s Salon and walk under the left arch, where framed hair pictures hang above a row of white hair chairs. Walk up to a chair and press E at the prompt.

Click bright red for part 1, then step with the arrow to parts 2 and 3 (part 3 is “3/3: Headband”) and click bright blue for both. The hair shows red and blue streaks. Closing the panel kept it on for us.

Look 1: red cardigan over blue boots

Our idea: a long red top over blue boots, so the color jumps from red straight to blue. This look has no bottoms piece; the oversized cardigan is long enough to work as the top half, so the split is top versus boots, not one piece cut in two.

Set the boots’ part 1 to bright blue and part 2 to bright red, then press “Put On”. The boots turn blue, and the red part shows as red soles.

Go to the jackets and cardigans wall near the Halloween display and click the cream oversized cardigan on the shelf. It opens at “1/1: Preview”: one color for the whole piece.

Press “Put On” and close the panel. You now wear the red cardigan, the blue boots and the red and blue hair.

The finished look on the Freeplay Runway: the bright red oversized cardigan down to the upper thighs, bare legs, and the blue knee-high stiletto boots below, with the red and blue streaked hair falling over the shoulders. The cardigan falls open at the front, and the base black top and shorts show there.

Open Poses and click Pearly, the fourth pose in the Solo list. It raises a hand to the forehead; you can see it in the first runway picture of Look 2, where it carried over.

Look 2: yellow crop top over a magenta mini

Our idea: a true top-and-bottom split, bright yellow above the waist and magenta below it, with the boots in the same magenta as the skirt. The hair stays red and blue from Look 1; we reused it, so it does not match the yellow and magenta.

Take Look 1’s cardigan off: open the Wearing panel and click the heart X under the cardigan’s picture, the third one. Keep the hair and boots on.

Go to the Halloween display, with pumpkins, a cauldron and a yellow raincoat on a mannequin. Click the red strappy cut-out crop top on the left mannequin. It opens at “1/3: Preview” and previews red on you.

Check the Wearing panel: the hair, the boots, the top and the skirt. The pictures there keep the pieces’ original black, even though they are yellow and magenta on you.

Why these looks read as Color Split

A split works when someone glancing at the runway sees two colors and a clear line between them. Both looks use two bright, unrelated colors at full strength and put the line in an obvious place: at the hem of the cardigan in Look 1, and at the waist in Look 2. Keep everything else on each side in its own color (the boots match the skirt in Look 2), and avoid a third color in the middle. That is plain styling advice, not a score: we have not seen how either look does in a real round.

Color Split is not the same theme as Complementary Colors. Complementary Colors is about a pair of colors from opposite sides of the color wheel chosen to work together; here the point is the hard cut between two colors, not the pairing. For a matched color-pair look, see our Complementary Colors outfit ideas. For one color from head to toe, the opposite idea, see our Monochrome Mood outfit ideas, and for more bold color blocks, our Pop Art Princess outfit ideas and Stained Glass outfit ideas.

How to split an outfit into two colors in Dress To Impress

  1. Pick one piece for the top half and one for the bottom half (or long boots under a long top, as in Look 1).
  2. Click the top piece so it shows on you as a preview, step through every part with the arrow, and click the same color for each one. A part left on its default color breaks the split.
  3. Press “Put On”, then do the same with the bottom piece in the second color.
  4. Give the shoes the bottom color so the lower half reads as one block.
  5. To recolor a piece you already wear, open the Wearing panel, click its picture and set the colors again.
  6. For two-color hair, use a hairstyle with more than one part: our hair has three, and parts 2 and 3 took the second color.

Poses for Color Split

Any free pose from the Poses menu works; the Solo list starts with Satin, Lilac, Dazzle, Pearly, Crystal, Sparkle and Daisy. We used Pearly, a hand raised to the forehead, for the red and blue look, and Dazzle, a hand on the hip, for the yellow and magenta look. For the full list with a picture of each, see every free pose in Dress To Impress.

Building it in Freeplay Mode first

Freeplay Mode has no timer, so it is the place to find the pieces and set every part’s color without a round running out. That matters for a split: the top, the skirt and the hair have three parts each, and one part left on its default color puts a third color into the outfit. The cardigan wall, the Halloween display and the shoe shelf are all in the Dressing Room, and the hair chairs are in Lana’s Salon. Once a look works, you know where to go when Color Split comes up in a real round. How a theme round works

We have not had Color Split as a round yet; this is from ordinary server rounds on other themes. On the main lobby, the theme shows in a banner at the top with a timer under it. After dressing, each player walks the runway in turn, about 7 seconds each, while the others vote with five stars along the bottom of the screen, with a “Voting complete!” banner between players. A “Results” card then ranks the players, followed by an “Intermission” countdown.

The “Pick Theme” button next to the intermission timer lets you choose the theme, but only with Theme Props. The panel reads “You have: 0 Theme Props” and offers a “Buy More” button priced at 75 Robux. We bought none and saw no free ones, so without Robux you wait for Color Split to roll.

What we have not checked

No round we joined rolled Color Split, so these looks have not walked a real round: there is no score, star count or vote for them. We did not try a left and right split inside one piece, a face or makeup card, or accessories. We did not note which exact heart gave the blue and the magenta pink. Both looks were built with 0 stars, and nothing was bought.

FAQ

What is Color Split in Dress To Impress?

It is a round theme. The game shows only the name, so most players read it as one outfit divided into two strong colors, usually one on top and another on the bottom.

What should I wear for Color Split in DTI?

A bright red oversized cardigan over blue knee-high stiletto boots, or a yellow cut-out crop top over a magenta plaid pleated mini with magenta knee-high boots. Recolor every part of each piece so each half is one solid color.

Can I do Color Split without VIP?

Yes. Both looks were built on an account with no VIP and 0 stars, and every piece and color used here worked on it.

How do I make two-color hair in Dress To Impress?

Pick a hairstyle with more than one color part in the Hairstyles panel at a Lana’s Salon hair chair. Ours opened at “1/3: Preview”: part 1 red, parts 2 and 3 blue gave red and blue streaks.

Is Color Split the same as Complementary Colors?

No. Complementary Colors is about a pair of opposite colors chosen to work together; Color Split is about a hard line between two colors, which do not have to match.

Where are the knee-high stiletto boots?

On the bottom shelf of the shoe shelf in the Dressing Room, next to the white fluffy fur jacket stand. They are black on the shelf and have two color parts.
