Vaporwave (searched most as “vaporwave dti”) is one of the round themes in Dress To Impress on Roblox. The game gives only the name, so the reading here is ours: the retro 80s and 90s internet look, in pastel pink, teal and purple with a bit of shine. We built two looks in Freeplay Mode, a pastel hoodie with two-tone braids and a metallic pencil skirt outfit, and took our own pictures of each step. Every piece, color and pose used is free, so both work without VIP. For the other themes, see every Dress To Impress theme we have built.
Quick answer: Our fullest look is Look 2: a pastel pink bow tee, a shiny aqua Metallic pencil skirt from the Freeplay skirts wall, pink waves with teal streaks and pink-lilac lace-up platform boots. Look 1: a pink hoodie with teal print.
Vaporwave outfit ideas in Dress To Impress
Dress To Impress shows no item names, so every piece here is described by where it sits, what it looks like and the spot we used on the Default palette (columns from the left, rows from the top). Joining Freeplay Mode puts you in the bald base body with a black top and black shorts; those cannot be taken off, only covered. In Look 1 they show under the open hoodie; Look 2 covers both.
Look 1: Pastel retro hoodie
Our idea: one big pastel piece with a loud print, plus hair in the other two vaporwave colors. A pastel pink hoodie with aqua lettering, purple braids with teal streaks and pink sneakers.

The finished look on the Freeplay Runway: an open, oversized pastel pink zip hoodie with aqua lettering and a striped hem, purple braided loops with teal streaks, and pink sneakers. The black base top and shorts show in the opening of the hoodie.

A plain front stance shows the whole print: the lettering runs down both sides of the front and along the sleeves.

From behind, the braided loops fan out on top of the head over the pink hoodie, and the print continues across the back.

Seen from a few steps away, the pastel pink and aqua read clearly against the white and purple hall, which is what a runway walk shows.

Look 2: Pastel waves and metallic pencil skirt
Our idea: a full pastel outfit with one shiny piece. A pastel pink tee, a pale aqua Metallic pencil skirt, long pink and teal waves and pink-lilac platform boots. It covers the whole base body.

The finished look on the Freeplay Runway: long pink waves with teal streaks and full bangs falling over the pastel pink tee, the shiny pale aqua pencil skirt down to the calf, and pink-lilac lace-up platform boots with teal soles. No black base shows anywhere.

From behind, the waves cover most of the tee, and the Metallic finish shows as a soft shine down the skirt.

From further back, the three colors stack cleanly from top to bottom: pink and teal hair, pink tee, aqua skirt, pink-lilac boots.

Add to Google Preferences →Why these looks read as Vaporwave
Vaporwave, as we read it, is retro and digital at once: soft pastels, pink against teal and aqua, a touch of purple, and something that shines. Every piece we added keeps to those three colors instead of bringing in black, white or a fourth color. Look 1 puts the aqua into a big print on pink, so the hoodie alone carries the theme. Look 2 spreads the colors across hair, top, skirt and boots and adds the Metallic skirt for the glossy, slightly artificial feel. This is plain styling advice; we have not seen how either look scores in a real round.
For an all-soft pastel take, see our Cotton Candy Couture outfit ideas. If you want the same digital mood but darker and brighter, our Cyberpunk outfit ideas go neon, and our Y2K Popstar outfit ideas are the shinier pop version. The braided updo and the star sneakers from Look 1 also appear in our Decora outfit ideas.
How to recolor a piece and make it shiny
- Click the piece in the Dressing Room so it shows on you as a preview and its color panel opens.
- Pick the part with the arrows beside the part name (“1/2: Preview”, “2/2: Bows” and so on). Each part takes its own color.
- Choose the color on the Palette tab (the Default palette: columns are hues, rows run light to dark, and the last row runs from white to black).
- For a finish, open the “+” tab and pick a material such as Metallic, Foil or Glitter.
- Repeat for every part, then press “Put On”. To change a piece you already wear, including your hair, click its picture in the Wearing panel and set the part again.
To take a piece off, click the heart X under its picture in the Wearing panel. A color can read differently on a piece than its heart suggests (the teal on the hoodie print reads bright aqua), so look at the piece on you before moving on.
Vaporwave colors on the Default palette

Vaporwave pieces to look for

Where the skirts and trousers are in Freeplay
Bottoms are easy to miss. The hall where Freeplay Mode spawns you has a wall on the right with skirts, shorts and trousers, including the gray pencil skirt from Look 2 and several pairs of jeans; some of the jeans showed “Can’t be put on.” for us. A pencil skirt or trousers is the quickest way to cover the black base shorts.
Poses for Vaporwave
Any free pose from the Poses menu works; one with the arms raised shows the hair and the full length of the skirt. For the full list with a picture of each, see every free pose in Dress To Impress.
Building it in Freeplay Mode first
Freeplay Mode has no timer, so it is the place to find the pieces and test colors and materials without a round running out. For Vaporwave that matters because the look depends on getting the same pink, teal and purple across four or five pieces, and the salon chair has its own short timer. Once a look works, you know which shelf, which palette spots and which parts to go to when Vaporwave comes up in a real round. For more themes built the same way, see our Boho, Robot Takeover, Album Cover, Potion Maker, Monochrome Mood, Divine Beings, Drag, Sweet 16, Camouflage, Deserted Island, Summer Cruise, Favorite Show, Fairytale, Cotton Candy Couture, Cyberpunk, Birth Stones, Y2K Popstar, Video Game Character, Top Model, Fast Food Mascot, DJ, Award Show, Drama Queen, Instagram Model, Day of the Dead, Malibu Dream, Stained Glass, Summer Camp, Modern Royalty, Trad Goth, Wonderland, Trip To London, Pop Art Princess, Sugar And Spice, Paranormal Investigator, Cursed Lagoon, Complementary Colors, Galactic Glam, Dancer, Midnight Circus, Jellyfish, Garden Tea Party, Enchanted Curse, Harvest Festival, Thrifted, Lazy But Cute, Possessed, Night At The Orchard, Bioluminescent Depths, Coronation, Your Country, Reality Television, Subway Rush, Candlelit Library, Dystopia, Decora and Gymnastics outfit ideas.
How a theme round works
We have not had Vaporwave as a round yet; this is from ordinary server rounds on other themes. On the main lobby, the theme shows in a banner at the top with a timer under it. After dressing, each player walks the runway in turn, about 7 seconds each, while the others vote with five stars along the bottom of the screen, with a “Voting complete!” banner between players. A “Results” card then ranks the players, followed by an “Intermission” countdown.
The “Pick Theme” button next to the intermission timer lets you choose the theme, but only with Theme Props. The panel reads “You have: 0 Theme Props” and offers a “Buy More” button priced at 75 Robux. We bought none and saw no free ones, so without Robux you wait for Vaporwave to roll.
What we have not checked
No round we joined rolled Vaporwave, so these looks have not walked a real round: there is no score, star count or vote for them. We added no sunglasses, chokers or other accessories to either look, and Look 1 leaves the black base top and shorts showing under the hoodie. We did not note the names of the poses in our pictures. Both looks were built with 0 stars, and nothing was bought.
FAQ
What is Vaporwave in Dress To Impress?
The game gives only the theme’s name. We read it as the retro 80s and 90s internet look: pastel pink, teal and purple, often with something shiny.
Can I do Vaporwave without VIP?
Yes. Both looks were built on an account with no VIP and 0 stars, and every piece, color, material and pose used here worked on it, with no lock or price on any of them.
Where are the skirts and trousers in Freeplay?
On the right-hand wall of the hall where Freeplay Mode spawns you. The pencil skirt used in Look 2 is the gray one on its lower shelf.
How do I make clothes shiny in Dress To Impress?
Click the piece so it previews, open the “+” tab in its color panel and pick Metallic (or Foil, Glitter and the other materials listed), then press “Put On”. Set the material before you put the piece on.
How do I change my hair color?
Pick a hairstyle at a Lana’s Salon chair; its color panel opens at once, and the arrow switches to the second part. For hair you already wear, click its picture in the Wearing panel and set each part there.
Which pose fits Vaporwave?
Any free pose works. We used one with both hands raised to the head, which shows the hair and the length of the pencil skirt.
