Black Lace Dress To Impress: 2 All-Black Lace Outfit Ideas (Lace-Trim Blouse Gown and Lace Corset Mini)

Black Lace (searched most as “black lace dti”) is one of the round themes in Dress To Impress on Roblox: an all-black outfit where lace carries the look, elegant rather than spooky. We built two looks in Freeplay Mode, a floor-length black ruffle gown with a lace-trimmed blouse and a black corset with a pleated chain mini, and took our own pictures of every step. Every piece and color here is free, so both work without VIP. For the other themes, see every Dress To Impress theme we have built.

Quick answer: For Black Lace, wear the long tiered ruffle skirt with the boho blouse set all black, since its lace parts give black lace trim, or a black corset with its Lace part black over the black chained pleated mini.

Black Lace outfit ideas in Dress To Impress

Dress To Impress shows no item names, so every piece here is described by where it sits and what it looks like. All the black in both looks is one spot on the Default palette: the heart at the far right of the bottom row. Set each part’s color while the piece is still a preview, then press “Put On”.

The lace is the part people get stuck on. On these pieces it comes from parts that are named for it in the color panel, such as “4/6: Dress Lace” or “4/5: Lace”, so set those parts black along with the rest. Neither look has shoes: the gown covers the feet, and Look 2 walks the runway barefoot.

Look 1: Black lace gown with a ruffle skirt

Our idea: a dark Victorian evening gown, with a floor-length ruffled skirt, a high-necked blouse edged in lace and a curly black bun.

Open the Wearing panel. We still had the long tiered ruffle skirt, the black curly bun and the doll face from our Dolls guide, with the skirt in cream. If you do not have the skirt yet, it is on the mannequin standing on the left side of the Dressing Room tops wall, in dusty rose.

Click the skirt’s picture. Its panel opens at “1/5: Skirt”; on the Palette tab, click the heart at the far right of the bottom row. The skirt turns black on you at once.

Press the right arrow to part 2 (“2/5”) and click the same black heart.

Do the same for parts 3, 4 and 5 (“5/5: Belt” is the last). With all five parts black, the skirt is a solid black column of ruffle tiers down to the floor.

The Patterns tab has a dark floral lace tile, but it is not the way to get lace here. When we clicked it, a star badge showed on the tile (star badges mark tiles that need stars, and our account had 0), and the skirt did not change, in black or in white. Use pieces that have a lace part instead.

For the top, go to the tops wall in the Dressing Room and find the boho mannequin: a cream lace blouse with a brown suede vest, a wide sun hat and brown fringe boots. Click the blouse; its panel opens at “1/6: Dress”.

Set all six parts to the same black heart, stepping with the right arrow: “1/6: Dress”, the stitching, the ribbon, “4/6: Dress Lace”, the vest and “6/6: Vest Lace”. The two lace parts are the ones that make this look.

The mannequin keeps its cream and brown while you pick, so do not wait for it to change. Press “Put On” (the label beside the color panel).

On you, the blouse is long-sleeved and black, with black lace frills at the V-neck, the cuffs and the hem, sitting over the top of the skirt. The vest does not stand out once everything is black.

The Wearing panel now shows three pieces: the hair, the skirt and the blouse. The hair is the curly bun from Lana’s Salon (hair chairs, Hairstyles, Updo tab, row 1, left card) set to the same black heart on both parts; the doll face is from the makeup vanity, “Feminine”, 2nd row, middle card.

Look 2: Black lace corset with a pleated chain mini

Our idea: a shorter, sharper take on the theme, with a lace-trimmed black corset over a black pleated mini skirt with chains. It uses different pieces from Look 1.

Open the Wearing panel and click the heart X under the blouse and the skirt to take them off. Only the hair stays, over the black base top and shorts.

Why these looks read as Black Lace

The theme asks for two things at once: all black, and lace you can see. Look 1 goes long and formal, with lace at the neck, cuffs and hem of the blouse; Look 2 goes short, with the lace frill of the corset. Keeping every part of every piece black, the trims and laces included, is what makes them read as one outfit. That is plain styling advice; we have not seen how either look scores in a real round.

For a lace look with color, see our Webbed In Style outfit ideas, with a red floral-lace corset. The tiered skirt is also the base of the porcelain doll in our Dolls outfit ideas, and the boho blouse is shown in its cream and brown in our Boho outfit ideas. For more dark looks, see our Trad Goth outfit ideas, Punk outfit ideas and Monochrome Mood outfit ideas.

How to make a piece black

  1. Click the piece so it shows on you as a preview. The part name shows at the top of the color panel (“1/5: Skirt” and so on).
  2. On the Palette tab, with the Default palette, click the heart at the far right of the bottom row.
  3. Press the right arrow to the next part and click the same heart. Do every part, the ones named Lace or Trim included, or a strip of the old color stays.
  4. Press “Put On”. To change a piece you already wear, click its picture in the Wearing panel and set the parts again; the heart X under a picture takes it off.

Black Lace pieces to look for

None of these pieces has a name in the game, so look for them by place and shape. All of them are free and worked on our account with no VIP and 0 stars.

Poses for Black Lace

Any free pose from the Poses menu works; a still, posed stance such as Pearly or Lilac suits an elegant black look. For the full list with a picture of each, see every free pose in Dress To Impress.

Building it in Freeplay Mode first

Freeplay Mode has no timer, so it is the place to find the pieces and set every part black without a round running out. That matters here: the blouse has six parts and the corset five, and a single part left in its old color shows as a green lace or a white trim on the runway. Once a look works, you know which shelf and which parts to go to when Black Lace comes up in a real round. For more themes built the same way, see our Boho, Robot Takeover, Album Cover, Potion Maker, Monochrome Mood, Divine Beings, Drag, Sweet 16, Camouflage, Deserted Island, Summer Cruise, Favorite Show, Fairytale, Cotton Candy Couture, Cyberpunk, Birth Stones, Y2K Popstar, Video Game Character, Top Model, Fast Food Mascot, DJ, Award Show, Drama Queen, Instagram Model, Day of the Dead, Malibu Dream, Stained Glass, Summer Camp, Modern Royalty, Trad Goth, Wonderland, Trip To London, Pop Art Princess, Sugar And Spice, Paranormal Investigator, Cursed Lagoon, Complementary Colors, Galactic Glam, Dancer, Midnight Circus, Jellyfish, Garden Tea Party, Enchanted Curse, Harvest Festival, Thrifted, Lazy But Cute, Possessed, Night At The Orchard, Bioluminescent Depths, Coronation, Your Country, Reality Television, Subway Rush, Candlelit Library, Dystopia, Decora, Vaporwave, Gymnastics, NPC Core, Webbed In Style, Punk, Seifuku, Sport, Grocery Run and Dolls outfit ideas.

How a theme round works

We have not had Black Lace as a round yet; this is from ordinary server rounds on other themes. On the main lobby, the theme shows in a banner at the top with a timer under it. After dressing, each player walks the runway in turn, about 7 seconds each, while the others vote with five stars along the bottom of the screen, with a “Voting complete!” banner between players. A “Results” card then ranks the players, followed by an “Intermission” countdown.

The “Pick Theme” button next to the intermission timer lets you choose the theme, but only with Theme Props. The panel reads “You have: 0 Theme Props” and offers a “Buy More” button priced at 75 Robux. We bought none and saw no free ones, so without Robux you wait for Black Lace to roll.

What we have not checked

No round we joined rolled Black Lace, so these looks have not walked a real round: there is no score, star count or vote for them. We did not add lace tights, gloves, a veil or shoes, and did not visit the accessories wall for this theme. The Lace material on the “+” tab needs stars, so we did not use it. We did not find out why the corset’s puff sleeves did not come on with it. Both looks were built with 0 stars, and nothing was bought.

FAQ

What should I wear for Black Lace in Dress To Impress?

Go all black with visible lace: the long tiered ruffle skirt with the boho blouse set black, which gives lace trim at the neck, cuffs and hem, or a black corset with a lace frill over a black pleated chain mini.

Can I do Black Lace without VIP?

Yes. Both looks were built on an account with no VIP and 0 stars, and every piece and color worked on it, with no lock or price on any of them.

How do I get lace in Dress To Impress?

Use a piece that has a lace part and color that part. The boho blouse has “4/6: Dress Lace” and “6/6: Vest Lace”, and the black corset has “3/5: Trim” and “4/5: Lace”. The dark lace tile on the Patterns tab did not change our skirt, and it showed a star badge.

How do I make clothes black in Dress To Impress?

Click the piece, open the Palette tab and click the heart at the far right of the bottom row, then step through every part with the right arrow and click it again before “Put On”.

Why do green laces still show on my corset?

One of its five parts is still in its shelf color. Click the corset’s picture in the Wearing panel and set “2/5: Corset Front” and the other parts to black again.

What shoes go with Black Lace?

We did not add shoes: the long skirt covers the feet in Look 1, and Look 2 is barefoot. Black heels or boots would fit the theme, but we have not built that.
